A single soundtrack instead of a compilation as from 2002-2020.
Coverage was good but the hashtage #NYEABC is too big
New Year’s Eve with Charlie Pickering is amazing this year
Casey Donovan, the Star of the Show!
and adult fans
People on News Corp and Daily Mail haven’t forgot what the coverage was like back in 2013 when ABC won the broadcast rights from Nine.
Yep, definitely no need to strike that out!.
Scores of viewers? So 40 people thought that way, so let’s write an article skewed that way. ![]()
Charlie Pickering, so diverse, always a pro
She smashes it every year. She is the Queen of New Years Eve.
This generation’s Richard Wilkins
They also forgot in 2014 Julia Zemiro said “Thank God” as the credits roll and at the end there was a sketch of someone riding a helicopter into the fireworks which was dangerous.
Also bring back the “Pub Quiz” as a standalone show
The production was produced well and was better than the shockers from 2013 & 2014. ABC knows how to do big events like Sydney New Year’s Eve well.

Some interesting stats here regarding how many people watched via platforms like Facebook and TikTok.
Good to see ABC making the event accessible through social media via Facebook. YouTube, TikTok and iView for those outside AEDT and want to view it live.
It was well produced as always, but it was also very boring. I’m not sure an ‘in memoriam’ vibe for song selection was the best option for a NYE event.
