No Macca again this morning and it seems the show is coming from Mackay. Not Warwick like the usual fill in but a guy I had to check from the ABC pages because I couldn’t work out if he just said Mitch with a weird accent. It seems to be Meech Philpott who looks to be the ABC Tropical North presenter.
Not sure if Macca called in sick early this morning and then they just send a bulk message across the country to see who wants to jump on or why Mackay was chosen for the show this morning.
It’s a different feel to the show again with him, probably because I’ve never heard of him before but it seems ok.
I did the same thing - lol
Was still 1/2 asleep at the time, but I think Meech said the ABC bosses reached out to him some days before the show asking him to fill in for Macca who’s been feeling sick. Meech also said his wife was also helping out in the studio. A caller wanted Meech to contact Macca to enquire about his health, he said he would/might try later in the show.
Tegan Philpott is the mornings host on ABC Mackay. Also Chief of Staff. Think they met at Hot FM late 90’s?
Yes they did. They were on Hot until the mid 00’s.
Some minor movement for the next week or two on ABC Radio Brisbane as mentioned on-air.
Craig Zonca is presenting solo on Breakfast next week, while Loretta Ryan has a short break.
Steve Austin is also having a two weeks break, with Weekends presenter will Kate O’Toole to fill in on Drive.
Warwick and Meech provide a much better show than Maca who is well past it. I know Macca seems to have a large following but also so many people refuse to listen to him because of the crap jingles and music he plays and the way he rambled on. Time for change, love the concept of the program Australia all over - the host makes all the difference

With a ABC Upper Hunter table cloth! I’d love me a ABC Upper Hunter sticker though.
Also, I think the Royal Easter Show is a agricultural show…
Wasn’t the Newcastle Show also held this year before the Sydney Royal Easter Show?
It’s also possible that others have been held in Regional NSW this year, but of course I don’t know exactly when each and every country show in the state is held!
Yes.
I think in rural circles, there’s a difference between a field day and an ag show. They’re more exhibition based, less cake comps and sideshow alleys.
A-ha, have a quick google and you should find a whole list of shows. At least that was the case in 2018, there were at least two sites with all NSW (and other states) show dates. I’ll have a look tomorrow when home.
ABC sports reporter Katherine Murphy hosted Melbourne Breakfast today when Sammy J called in sick.
An old 2UH one would be even better! If there ever was one…
Oh I’ve seen those about. The ones from the 90s with the horse on them IIRC.
Suzanne Hill has been filling in for Indira Naidoo on Nightlife for a number of months now. Hopefully she’s coming back soon?
