Good pick up, ta.
It was fantastic not having him on after the daylight saving change overnight to hear him bang on about it all morning.
Warwick Long.
Thanks @ando9185 and @Frankie for the info. Yes, would’ve been a welcome change from his usual bellyaching about changing a clock. As bad as Gilbert on Bill’s night show.
East coast markets ran local breakfast until 8am? Then statewide until 10am?
Seemed to go national at 10am with Bec Levingston out of Brisbane. Using the 1300 800 222 number.
Who has been on following her?
Tasmania was statewide from Hobart from 6am to 10am - Trevor was on until 6am when usually he finishes at 5:30 for us.
What?
He was able to pick up the short wave signal.
How do you know?
They said it in the interview.
Link? Give us some context. What was the interview about? All you have got is a screenshot of News Breakfast.
The article you posted does not say that? He said he received the AM signal. Very different to short wave which is designed for long distances.
And ABC are no longer on SW anyway
Sorry for that my wrong I got confused.
That’s an amazing achievement especially considering the station is only 10kw compared to other 50kw stations that he mentions receiving.
It’s interesting if you look at a globe, Alaska is closer to Australia than you might initially think, about the same distance as continental USA and closer than Mexico and even closer than Ecuador in South America.
Australian stations that are on frequencies like 936 that sit between those of North American stations that are on multiples of 10 are the easiest to receive. The reverse is also the case with American stations that sit between our 9kHz spacings are easier to get here.
Craig Zonca will be back on ABC Brisbane breakfast Wednesday next week after having a break for the birth of daughter Molly Elizabeth Rose. Loretta Ryan has been solo for 2 weeks.
According to The Australian, the ABC has apologised to Alice Springs deputy mayor Jacinta Price for airing multiple radio segments that accused her of spreading “racist vitriol” and “hate speech”, and subsequent court action taken by Price against the public broadcaster has also been settled between the parties.
The ABC’s apology
On 11 September 2019, ABC Coffs Coast and ABC Alice Springs broadcast radio segments about Jacinta Nampijinpa Price’s speaking tour and local reactions to it in Coffs Harbour, including a media release put out by the Coffs Harbour & District Local Aboriginal Land Council. The ABC understands that the Land Council has withdrawn and apologised to Ms Price for statements contained in that media release, which it accepts were false and defamatory, and which caused hurt and distress to Ms Price and her family. The ABC did not endorse the opinions contained in the media release, and apologises to Ms Price and her family for the hurt and distress caused by broadcasting those views.
… this appears to have become the ABC news department’s modus operandi … publish the rash statement first, then apologise because they know that their followers will see/hear the first and ignore the second … and the people who call themselves journalists know that there will be no repercussions …
