I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, I’m just saying certain groups will be asking “why can’t males take part?” “women can’t commentate on sports” so on, so forth. You can guess who would be saying that.
Exactly. I have nothing against the fact that women are involved, but there needs to be a similar competition for men. There are plenty of talented young commentators who can’t get a gig/an opportunity into the big time.
There’s an obvious gap in female Aussie rules commentators and the ABC (presumably) have an exemption to seek to bolster their ranks this way. Try not to feel hard done by.
The usual avenues for men will still apply, best way to go about it is practise - a lot and make yourself known to other commentators, by sending them recordings.
Alister Nicholson said on Grandstand this afternoon that ABC Radio would broadcast the four-match Constellation Cup netball series between NZ and Australia, starting in Christchurch on Tuesday, March 2. All four matches will be broadcast on ABC Sport digital radio while game 3 and 4 will also be broadcast on analogue radio with commentary by Matt Clinch.
From what I’ve seen all the ABC Local ads use the same footage just with some minor differences (ie the “612” on the radio and view of the Story Bridge)
Saw one in Tas today and can confirm that, was all the same houses and not very Tasmanian looking for any suburbs that I could recognise and the only thing that was different was 936 on the car radio, Lucy Breaden doing the voice over at the end and the ABC Radio Hobart logo.
Residents in Braidwood, Captains Flat and various areas in between have struggled to get reliable coverage of the ABC666 signal for many years. This is of particular concern during emergencies such as bushfire and flood.
Council has been working with a telecommunications contractor over the past few years to improve the signal via retransmission. Residents in those areas should now be able to access a stronger signal through the following frequencies
Captains Flat and surrounds - FM 88.5
Braidwood and surrounds - FM 100.3
There is a local translator in-between Yatala and Ormeau Hills for the very southern end of Brisbane and the tip of the Gold Coast. (No channel overlap can be achieved in the area specified.)
