I wish… it was Macca and it was unbearable. Just when you think his choice in music can’t become any more ridiculous he finds bizarre, butchered, unfunny Christmas carols to assault our ears with.

was Lisa Pellegrino

was a ‘Best of’ edition.

is actually going to be Suki Sadik (she said she would be back tonight at the end of last night’s show).

Warwick Long will continue to host Statewide Drive in Victoria this week for online and digital radio, while the cricket is on analogue radio.

Last night at 7:15pm after PM, ABC Local Radio went to dead air for around a minute before this message started to play:

After that music started to play and another version of the message played. You can then hear when the intended program comes on air (and the host acknowledges there was a problem):

This was recorded (handsfree) while I was driving so apologies for the road noise.

Edit: Also appears to be available on the ABC Sydney Website Evenings - ABC Sydney
It sounds like ABC Sydney was in dead air for longer. The local transmitter must of detected the dead air and played it’s own message before Sydney started to come back on air

Victoria are actually taking a Semi-National Drive program presented by Paul Culliver instead. Warwick is back next week.

However in NSW, Kia Handley is presenting a Statewide drive program this week for online / Digital platforms.

Why did Vic get a special bfast and not national?

and why Kia for NSW?

Probably because of the Test?

Ali Moore is doing a combined breakfast -mornings until 10 am this week. Not sure on other shifts, that looks more like next week’s schedule?

Another summer of cost cutting within ABC Radio newsrooms.

Every state based newsroom clocks off at midday, no afternoon team.

Even between Christmas and new year, this appears to be a Grinch like move.

To continue in the first full week of the new year is nothing short of mean penny pinching.

You have to wonder if this is out of necessity for staff to cover holidays due to cuts in newsroom size meaning there simply isn’t available staff for afternoon shifts?

A disgrace either way, especially with breaking news of Perth bushfires, multi jurisdictional Cyclone Ellie, Sea World chopper crash and more.
