ABC Local Radio

yeah i just noticed this also sorry for the wrong info, like the sunny coast abc local is 90.3 yet its saying 100.1fm, strange, last i used this website was on the gold coast a few months ago and it worked fine
even tested with a fake gps app on phone and the abc/radio national freqs were fine for each area i tested, Lismore and so forth, not sure why its borked out now, it dont show all stations like u said brisbane dont show abc 612, but could kinda come in handy for some stations while travelling, or just download and print out the abc freq guide here

Wish the ABC had a Geelong/Surf Coast station

Speaking of Geelong, ABC Radio Melbourne will be broadcasting from Deakin University’s Geelong Waterfront campus during March.

Was meant to happen last year but Covid lockdowns stopped it happening

The stream for ABC Great southern was broadcasting the women’s ashes cricket after fire information instead of the regular programming, back to normal now though

No pun intended?

Careful what you say though. We all know how dangerous bush fires are to mountain top radio transmitters.

As mentioned in the Nine Radio Talk thread, was roadblocked Friday night hearing two awful readers across both commercial and public broacasters.

On the ABC, it was Satyam Weinstein.

As with Nathaniel, voice needs coaching or is not suited to radio bulletin presentation. Can’t help what you’re born with, however perhaps his talents and best chance of career success are beyond the microphone?

Both worked at 2SM before their unsuitable style was exposed to a wider audience on the ABC and Nine.

You know radio resourcing is getting bad when both ABC and Nine have poor newsreaders at night.

Audience deserves better, as we did receive consistently only a few short years ago.

I have been hearing Satyam Weinstein reading the news on weekend afternoons during Summer Grandstand. I think he sounds alright.

The famous Sunday morning show with Maca seems to have had some new guidelines set. There seems to be no more of the endless bird calls and stupid songs. It’s actually half listenable these days

Satyam is great.

Still wouldn’t say half listenable but at least this morning he did say he wouldn’t be reading out any of the things from the Convoy to Canberra groups or any of the things about them (mostly being negative I’d imagine) so at least he wasn’t giving that one airtime but then a few minutes later it was the typical “youth of today are so dumb and nowhere near as smart as we all were” because apparently a couple of people had been shopping and to bakeries and the young people didn’t know what a dozen was. My 7 year old knows what a dozen is and and a bakers dozen and I’d find it incredibly surprising if there were many people who didn’t know.

Has ABC radio Brisbane been affected by the floods at all?

they are currently running out of Mackay (i think that’s what he said - its a guy not normally on BNE - Meecham Philpott) and the afternoon show was out of the gold coast with Cathie Schnitzerling

the reasoning is that they want to give the BNE guys a break. last night they were on local radio almost all night (i assume so - i lost power at 4am. i’m posting via a laptop tethered to my mobile)

The ABC building at South Bank has been impacted by flooding, as seen in vision on tonight’s 7pm news bulletin. Given that bulletin had to come out of Perth, it’s probably likely radio has also been impacted, hence hearing different presenters in different locations.
