Same in Victoria.
I think it would have been early to mid 1990s.
101.1 was 100kw until recently, not sure why they reduced itâŚ
Old ABC Grandstand and Local Radio branding in the Hobart (Bellerive Oval) commentary box.
I can just pick up ABC Radio Melbourne on 96.1 FM, which according to the ACMAâs TV Radio Handbook is located in Yarra Ranges. However, there are two strange things about the station:
-
Although itâs on FM, it doesnât broadcast the cricket. Instead it carries the alternative program thatâs on the web, DAB+ and TV 25.
-
The ABC Frequency Finder doesnât say anything about the station. If I type in Healesville or Warburton which should be near that station, they only mention 3LO, Channel 25 and in one case, DAB+. fmscan.org doesnât list the station either.
Itâs an off air relay of the ABC Melbourne dab+ signal (hence no spot) primarily for emergency broadcasting to Warburton where the 774 signal is patchy. Transmitter is located on Mt Donna Buang.
@ron12 When this service switched on, we discussed it here and worked out that the FM translator used DAB+ as off air input.
Went to air before the days of radio on DTV and ahead of the lowest latency web stream.
@TV-Expert does it appear in the ACMA list of translator feeds or is that just TV?
Just TV.
ABC Mid North Coast billboard
And using the AM frequency not the FM? Interesting.
Yes, whilst 756 is more specifically Taree, its only 2kw, 95.5 at 25kw covers the whole area from Port Macquarie down as far south as Seal Rocks.
I suspect 756 only purely exists for the elderly rusted on AM radio folks who thinks a smart speaker is a clever MC.
Wonder if the billboardâs location is related to what frequency theyâve used (or not used)
Cairns is similar. ABC Local Radio has a 2kW AM transmitter and a 100KW FM transmitter.
Brian Nankervis is filling in for Jacinta Parsons on ABC Radio Melbourne as she has COVID.
Looks like 3WV Horsham VIC (594AM) is once again off the air.
Brian hosted the show on Monday to Wednesday this week.
Jacinta is back on air today. She said she had a suspected case of COVID and was bedridden for four days.
i wish the ABC would have a geo-location app that locates you and tells your frequencies for local radio, classic fm, newsradio etc.
