ABC Local Radio

So The Australian’s report on Monday is correct after all.

It would’ve been more interesting to have Josh Szeps in the breakfast slot. His humour and takes on the news would be more in keeping with what Harmer and Buck have been delivering successfully. I used to enjoy the satirical pieces he produced for Mike Carlton’s breakfast show back in the day.

I wonder if James Valentine will be discussing meaty issues such as chess and minties in his new slot?

Well this is welcome news

I agree, although maybe the ABC wanted higher profile talent for the breakfast slot.

Presumably if he stays around long enough, Josh Szeps will get the role post-Valentine.

That’s great news. Summer Grandstand just wasn’t the same without her! So glad she’s recovered.

The Coodabeen Champions have signed with 3MP for 2022. I think this is not the first time they have left the ABC.

It’s not, did a few years at AW late 90s maybe early 2000s. Tony Leonard remained with AW when they returned to the ABC. But I don’t think this time it’s of their choosing, sounds like they’ve been axed. Yet Macca rains for now. Odd call.

According to Sunday Herald Sun, the Coodabeens started on 3RRR in 1981, then to ABC in 1988, 3AW in 1993, before returning to ABC in 2003.

ABC statement

The ABC is in shock this morning at the news of the death of our much-loved colleague, ABC Radio Perth Breakfast presenter, Russell Woolf. Russell was a hugely cherished member of the ABC family in Perth and those who knew him and worked with him are today mourning the loss of a close friend. We have already been bowled over by the outpouring of love for Russell from his many, many fans, since his death was announced on air by our Drive presenter, Geoff Hutchison late this morning. Our thoughts are with our colleagues who have lost a dear friend and with Russell’s family.

The death of Russell Woolf was the lead item on ABC News WA at 7pm last night, ahead of the continuing search for 4-year-old Cleo Smith.

After the weather there was another 45-second montage of the popular presenter.

When was ABC Brisbane moving?

It has not moved from its existing South Bank premises. I think it was just a major renovation.
