Myf should not be in the mix. All of her mainstream station radio shows have failed. Both on ABC and her foray into commercial radio.
I wonder if Josh Szeps is the main consideration? He seems to be the fill in for them but he has Weekend Breakfast.
Otherwise it could be Cassie McCullagh? Obviously James Valentine and Richard Glover arenât going to be willing to move.
Another is Simon Marnie.
I donât think Wil Anderson would commit to Breakfast radio considering he seems to enjoy a presence in LA.
Josh hasnât done Weekend Breakfast for about 3 years.
Ah, probably explains why heâs a regular fill in on ABC Sydney then.
Wouldnât mind the idea of a Josh & Cassie double act tbh. There are often some really nice crossover moments when Josh is filling in on breakfast; chemistry is solid.
Wil hasnât had a LA presence in about 4 years, he moved full time to Melbourne and now Byron.
I reckon he might be the one.
Yeah, I could easily see (or more to the point, hear) Josh Szeps being chosen to present ABC Radio Breakfast next year.
The big question: Will they allow him to present the show solo or will a female co-host be brought in?
Better yet, they may go back to a
Breakfast and Mornings show separately, like Perth.
Because LiSTNR appears to be where Triple J and some other ABC alumni go to die.
Daily Telegraph is reporting that Buck/Harmerâs departure has come as a surprise to the ABC
Matt Preston filling in for Libby Gorr on weekend mornings on ABC Melbourne today.
Speculation there also about Harmer returning to 2Day FM. I expected rumours SCA would be looking to dump Hughesy, Ed and Erin to surface, regardless of management stating theyâd be given time, but have trouble believing Harmer would be considered a good fit for a hot adult contemporary station.
More twaddle from tired old blokes in the Radio Green Room?
The Australian has James Valentine as the front runner to take the 702 breakfast slot with Josh Szeps and Simon Marnie also in the running. Looks like theyâre going to try replicating the success of the Melbourne 774 model by having a lighthearted breakfast show with a âClive Robertson-like vibeâ followed by AM at 8.00 and then a newsy morning show from 8.30 with a strong female journo at the helm. Cassie McCullagh, Sarah MacDonald, Indira Naidoo, Ellen Fanning and Fran Kelly are names mentioned in relation to the morning slot.
So many names, the SMH has no idea, so why not list every name you can think of?
Good griefâŚ
Looks like the announcement is tomorrow
James Valentine is the new Sydney breakfast host, Josh Szeps to take over Valentineâs old show
