McKinnon lives in Australia’s version of Nashville up there. Nine could just set up a couple of remote cameras in one of the many recording studios in the area so McKinnon could turn up just before 7:00pm, do the show, then head home at 7:30pm.
Interesting article about Sylvia… From the article -
Nine has reassured her of its commitment by throwing out her old contract -due to expire next year -and re-signing her for another 4 years. At just 33,Jeffreys is clearly part of their succession planning.
“l’m feeling very supported and encouraged” she says. “It can be hard to feel complete confidence in yourself when sands are shifting, but l’m thrilled Nine is backing me and showing that commitment to me”.
True. But Leila McKinnon has filled in for Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair a fair bit recently.
If I was a gambler (which I’m not, probably a good thing if my prediction strike rate is anything to go by), I’d probably be putting some money on a presenter transition happening sometime in the next year or two.
But surely it’d be fair to say say that Tracy Grimshaw has been absent from the program more often this year compared to the past? Just going by this thread it’s at least once a month and even more frequently than that recently.
Tracy Grimshaw is a few years older than Peter Overton though.
I’d probably also say that TG isn’t a presenter who particularly strikes me as one who we’re likely to still see on TV until their Early 70s, as much as it’d be really good to still see her or other female presenters on Australian TV at that age of course.
Caps from last night. It seems that they rarely super anyone except the reporter at the beginning of the report (last night they had one talent super) and there is no weather forecast at the end of the show anymore:
In a letter to Nine chief executive Hugh Marks, an official from the Attorney-General’s Department said the company may have to register the segment aired by A Current Affair earlier this year because it was linked to Qatari state-funded network Al Jazeera.
The footage aired by Nine in March showed former One Nation Queensland leader Steve Dickson visiting a strip club in the United States, groping a woman and making derogatory comments. He resigned shortly after the footage went to air.
