As mentioned when the line-up was announced, hardly in 9Go!'s target demo that is 16-39s.

I wonder if 9Go! has been struggling against 10 Peach and 7flix, which have similar target demographics and the latter two regularly rank in all Top 5 key demos (e.g.) Seinfeld, TBBT, The Simpsons, Family Guy. Not to mention some other m/c and timeslots too.

9Go! was once the sole m/c destination for this age group and for a couple of years didn’t even have the aforementioned other two channels exist, regularly seeing shares 4-5% and audiences at 300k metro.

But in later years, especially since covid, has regularly been struggling for 2% in total people and rarely appears in the Top 5 m/c key demos, but still ranks in the total people Top 20 with the occasional nightly movie, doing better on Saturdays.

I think it’s lost its identity and isn’t well defined, a criticism some in the industry have observed recently, this very thing was mentioned and discussed in a TVB podcast previously.

Killjoys

Sunday 11 June 11:25 pm FTA premiere - previously on SBS On Demand.

From the producers of “Orphan Black” and the creator of “Lost Girl,” “Killjoys” follows a fun loving, hard living trio of interplanetary bounty hunters sworn to remain impartial as they chase deadly warrants throughout the Quad, a distant system on the brink of a bloody, multi planetary class war.

Hannah John Kamen stars as the gorgeous, complicated, and deadly Dutch. A top level Killjoy, she’s a much loved and charming presence in her community, with a unique gift for earning people’s trust and respect, regardless of their class. Beneath her banter and protective flirtations, however, lies a dark and secret past.

MacGyver recently started running on GO! after a long run on One/Bold as part of Ten’s supply arrangement with Paramount Distribution. Paramount Global Content Distribution is obviously still happy to sell and distribute their content to competing stations and replace their station’s own lost content with other Paramount programming, which is win for them in maximising their revenue.

Must be getting desperate at Paramount.

Surely it’s some sort of content deal that includes MacGyver? I can’t imagine Nine going through Paramount’s catalogue and only picking that show.

Paramount have always sold outside of their own platforms even after P+ and their acquisition of 10. It’s a smart move considering Disney and Warner have realised that keeping everything to themselves isn’t exactly the greatest idea for profitability…

NEW KIDS TV SHOW SOLVES THE BIGGEST QUESTIONS FACING HUMANITY

PREMIERING MONDAY, JULY 3, AT 7.30AM ON 9GO! AND 9NOW

Earth Science Investigators (of Earth), the 9Network’s new kids TV show, premieres Monday, July 3, at 7.30am on 9Go!

Following the antics of two amateur detectives from an alien planet who have come to Earth to investigate the human race, the show takes the form of a comedic investigation, with each episode focusing on a different aspect of human behaviour or biology.

The two aliens, Major Letdown and Private Groupchat, must answer questions such as Why do humans have pets? Why do humans grow to different sizes? and Why don’t humans run on batteries?

Major Letdown, played by Ashlee Lollback (SMASHHDOWN: Search for the GOAT) and Private Groupchat, played by Arnijka Larcombe-Weate (The Bureau of Magical Things and Boy Swallows Universe), crash-landed on Earth with a mission to understand humanity and report their findings to General Ignorance, played by Michael Balk (SMASHHDOWN: Search for the GOAT and Dirtgirlworld).

The series, written, filmed and produced at 9Network’s Mt Coot-Tha studios in Queensland, consists of 50 fact-filled educational episodes.

Geoff Cooper, Executive Producer and Programming Manager at Nine Queensland, said: “This is the funniest program I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in, showcasing the comedic talents Queensland has to offer. The original concept conceived by Dominic Morris has been honed by the fabulous team we’ve put together, each person bringing something to the table that breaks new ground in factual children’s content.

Earth Science Investigators (of Earth) adds to the growing stable of programming from Nine Queensland over the past decade.”

Dominic Morris, Writer and Series Producer, said: "At its heart, it’s a buddy-comedy that plays on the tropes of the sci-fi and whodunit genres in a cheeky way that’s fun for both kids and parents.

“The show reaches beyond what’s expected of factual content. It’s a compelling and unique comedic story that leads our audience to discovery.”

The first episode launches into the body’s digestive system, literally, complete with all the gross-out humour you’d expect, to answer: Why do humans eat?

From discovering what happens inside our bodies when we’re hungry, to how produce is actually grown and even a “live cross” into the digestive system to discover where consumed food goes, the episode ensures no stone is left unturned in answering important scientific questions.

Earth Science Investigators (of Earth) will go to air weekdays at 7.30am on 9Go! until early September.

This QTQ production includes quite a few scenes from Brisbane as well as a few shots of the Mt Coot-tha studios.

You can just make out the tower in the car park here.

End credits

Pre-roll suggests it was an inhouse production - haven’t seen that 9HD logo for a while.

Two classic series, Family Ties and The Addams Family are starting on July 13th. Wouldn’t these be better on 9Gem and not a kids and young adult network??? This channel has been mismatching programs that would do astronomically better on 9Gem which already airs these types of shows rather than 9Go! which airs kids shows in the daytime and modern sitcoms, reality series and movies in the evening/nighttime for a 16-39 audience. 9Go! has certainly been facing an identity crisis for the past year or so.

Longer than that

Depending on the timeslot, may give Addams Family a go. Watching some bits online and thought it had been a long time since airing, although it was a B&W series.

Family Ties is another Paramount series.
