Would have to pay wouldn’t they?

Seven would own the rights?

Referring to having to pay residuals - residual fees or repeat fees- to the actors, writers, directors and others associated with production of programs.

Sure it would still could well be cheaper than playing a repeat of Stargate SG1 or The Simpson’s.
It just doesn’t seem right that I would need to get a VPN and access a US based streaming service Freevee in order to watch the first two seasons of Home and Away on a free streaming service in the country that the show was made in. I am sure Amazon is paying some kind of rights for the show as well.

People don’t understand they don’t have a right to content, it is up to the owners as to how they distribute it.

I think FAST channels are great and play a key role in getting people to cut their cords and go all IP delivery at home.

7plus heats up for summer

The Seven Network has unveiled a sizzling line-up of exclusive, hit content coming to 7plus this summer.

7plus’ supersized summer schedule will offer audiences a bigger and deeper selection of exciting entertainment shows, must-watch reality programs, gripping drama series and new FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV) channels.

On 15 January 2023, Seven will also launch the exciting new channel, 7Bravo, which along with Seven’s partnership with NBCUniversal, will bring the world’s best reality, entertainment and true crime content to Seven and 7plus, including the most iconic unscripted TV franchises Real Housewives, Below Deck and Million Dollar Listing.

New FAST channels will offer viewers more to explore on 7plus this summer, with an exclusive channel featuring hand-picked classic episodes of Home and Away, now live. Viewers can relive the most memorable births, deaths, marriages and tragedies from Summer Bay over the past 35 years, with the nostalgic episodes available on-demand on 7plus and scheduled chronologically on the Home and Away Classics FAST channel.

Almost half of all commercial BVOD streaming in Australia happens on 7plus and so far this year, 7plus has streamed over 11.74 billion minutes of content – over 140% more than the third-placed commercial network’s BVOD service.

Seven West Media Chief Digital Officer, Gereurd Roberts, said: “7plus is fully loaded this summer – full of hit entertainment shows, full of bingeable series, full of enticing drama, and full of must-watch reality.

“We are always looking at ways to enhance our content and viewing experience, and this summer we’re expanding our programming catalogue with over 2,000 extra hours of content – and that doesn’t even take into account the additional NBCU and 7Bravo programming coming in January.

“7plus has had another remarkable year, with live streaming in 2022 up 40% year-on-year and total BVOD viewing up 16%, as audiences increasingly come to 7plus to watch our compelling content,” he said.

Seven West Media National Sales Director of Digital, Nicole Bence, said: “This summer, 7plus is a one-stop shop for the best Seven content alongside an extensive library of exclusive and classic programming that connects with younger audiences. There’s something for everyone and 7plus offers advertisers incredible levels of personalisation, exciting new shoppable solutions and new data-driven FAST channels.

“For our clients and agency partners, 7plus’ industry-leading user experience – coupled with our powerful first party data insights from 7REDiQ – provides a powerful way to align their brands alongside the vast library 7plus premium content this summer and connect with their target audience in the most impactful and targeted way.

Joining 7plus’ more than 50 FAST channels this summer will be Crazy In Love, a channel bringing reality fans a curated schedule of hit shows including Back with the Ex, First Dates Australia, Extreme Weddings, The Single Wives and Yummy Mummies.

The streaming line-up on 7plus gets even hotter with viewers able to binge on full series of powerhouse programs, including all seasons of 9-1-1 and 9-1-1-Lonestar, plus seasons of much-loved favourites Brothers & Sisters, Ghost Whisperer, Private Practice, Boston Legal, Prison Break and Scandal.

New shows coming to 7plus include Castle Rock, Army Wives, Devious Maids, Salem, Chance, Sleepy Hollow, The Glades, Felicity, My So Called Life and much more.

Noticed 7plus have had a Home and away classics channel running for a few weeks now. If 7 doesn’t have the rights to the original classic episodes anymore then how far back does their current catalogue go?

They have every single episode. They own the show.

They cant put up every episode as they would have to pay actors who appear in the episodes.
