As a commercial broadcaster looking to make a profit, I daresay Seven want to ensure their viewers only see the most relevant version (although exactly how that works for Regional Queensland is anyone’s guess) of their stations due to advertising, licencing and probably other reasons.
If you really want to watch Sydney’s version of Channel Seven desperately enough, maybe consider making a trip over here. At least that way you’d be able to (mostly) see it over the air on LCN-70 in 1080i rather than 504p through the online streaming!
But I thought that Nine also had live feeds before Seven did and they were able to geo-block from the start. It was one of the reasons why I did like Seven’s developers much better than Nine’s, Seven would let you watch any city’s feed but Nine wouldn’t.
Can we just move on? I’m fast becoming sick of Mitchell arguing with everyone and everyone baiting him. Mods please just stop approving his posts if you think they’ll cause a reaction. Isn’t that why he is on mod preview? It’s become tedious and is effecting positive flow. Thanks.
Nine probably also had to upgrade a lot of things technologically when they were moving away from 9JumpIn/nineMSN to their current 9Now/nine.com.au/9News.com.au platforms.
I can’t comment about what goes on inside either network but judging by what I can see from the outside, it seems like Nine are a bit more technologically up to date than Seven in many areas these days.
Moving on from everything that’s happened in this thread over the past few days - noticed that the 7Plus app has started asking for users to login with either a Facebook or Google account because “member features are on the way”.
Guessing it means the subscription aspect of the service (which has been previously flagged) might be launching soon
Pretty sure on the Telstra TV you can pick the 7 Tennis app and then pick what location you want and then it changes the content based on that… though I haven’t checked that for a while…
Mediaweek reports Outdoor Channel Asia has signed a multimedia content agreement with Seven, with Outdoor Channel-branded premium original productions to be initially available on demand on 7plus, with an expanded offering to launch later in this year.
