Placeholder in 4:3 in North Qld
For those wanting to record the opening, 7Food starts at 6:00am on 1 December.
Hopefully MKR New Zealand (hosted by Pete and Manu) will air on this channel.
Nothing from Prime yet
Thats something I already posted here about
Airing the New Zealand version of MKR with Pete and Manu on 7 Food Network even though the NZ version is much shorter than the original AU version with about 10 episodes in the NZ version
It also counts as Australian content.
Had a quick look this afternoon, still 4:3, hopefully they fix that before they begin broadcasting
4:3 and sound says AAC lol.
Prime7 still in negotiations for 7Food Network https://decidertv.com/page/2018/11/15/regional-viewers-to-miss-out-on-7food-network-after-negotiations-fail-to-find-agreementp
The extra “p” at the end of the link has broken it.
Good that they’re at least in negotiations, the timeframes for getting Flix & HD were a crock. I understand there were different constraints last time around, but still.
I personally think with Prime paying out 50 % of there revenue any multi channel should be part of the deal.
I don’t disagree. Before Flix and HD rolled out, Prime either didn’t respond to questions about the new channels at all, or gave generic answers on technological limitations. Perhaps now that their playout has moved to MediaHub, that isn’t an excuse for them anymore.
More broadly, I wonder if we’ll get to a point where Seven will bite the bullet and make Prime (and perhaps GWN) O&O subsidiaries. That’s baseless speculation for another thread though.
Given the Seven West share price as opposed to Prime Media Group, it is a big possibility, especially if you consider the ACCC not opposing a Fairfax/Nine merger. Prime, like Seven haven’t paid a dividend in the last 12 months and given the hostility in the market, this may well continue.
Ultimately, both organisations cannot continue to operate without paying a dividend as shareholders will abandon ship causing further downward pressure on the share price
Why would Seven buy Prime7 when at the moment they get a decent income and dont have to carry the overheads of a massive regional network
I am not suggesting it will happen today, but it may have to rescue Prime7 in the long term otherwise risk it ending up like Ten almost did.
The other alternative would be to reduce programming revenue.
If we are going to consider this argument, we need to look at the fact Seven owns 7QLD

The 7:00pm program repeated at 10:00pm, it seems.
Nine kind of already has a fifth channel (at least in their network O&O markets) - it’s called Your Money.
But yeah, I wouldn’t be overly surprised to see them add another one if 7Food Network is successful.
It isn’t listed yet, so we don’t really know.
