7flix - Programs and Schedules

I had a look at the EPG for channel 76 and it says no information from 6 am tomorrow instead of coming soon. I’m in Sydney metro.

Have anybody seen the EPG for tomorrow? Could it mean something?

I think feb 1 would be a good time to start a week out before the ratings start

It’s been like that for a while. Only one program listed at a time.

Should this article be taken wit a grain of salt? What if the EPG is correct?

But leading up to tomorrow or February 1 there have been no promos of 7 HD to date. I don’t know what’s the new channel is going to be like or what name it is going to be.

There is the tiniest chance int he world that 7HD could just pop up tomorrow and they educate viewers via the tennis And by tiniest chance I highly highly doubt it - they would want to trumpet their channels arm the rooftops.

Asked the author of that article on twitter this morning and his response was that 7 have gone very quiet on the HD issue.

Personally, I very strongly doubt that Seven HD would be broadcasting on LCN-76 and certainly not from tomorrow. If/when they launch a HD channel, surely they’d go with 70 or 71?

In any case, I just hope that the network puts us all out of our misery soon and either launches something or pulls the placeholder until they’re actually ready to make an announcement!

I can confirm that 76 is still in SD in MPEG 4 format, with 70 (the likely 7 HD channel) still in SD and 7 mate on 73 still in HD.

Until I know for sure, I will have to assume that EPG can be very misleading at times.

Oh and by the way I still don’t know what the final name or type of channel will be on 76. Date of commencement still unknown.

Maybe they’ll begin running a looped promo for a week or so before it commences with programs. Will give them time to promote it on the other channels. That could start tomorrow while the EPG still says “coming soon”.

I wonder if it’s possible to start 7 HD first and then the new channel later or must they start at the same time?

It doesn’t look like seven is as serious as channel nine in promoting their new channels. I wonder if seven was as silent as now before they launched 7 HD in 2007. I wasn’t in Sydney at the time so others would know more than I do.

And people referring seven as the 4:3 channel and not showing proper HD to start with strikes me as a network not ready to adjust to the digital world in a hurry.

7 don’t have to do anything. They don’t have to launch anything and what they do is on their own timetable. If they do launch a new channel OzTam needs a certain notice period before it shows up in ratings but doesn’t mean they cannot start the channel before that.

I think they’d be playing their cards pretty close to their chest with the new channel. They don’t want to give the others, esp 9, time to program against it, I guess.

Yes 7HD launched in a very low-key manner. From what I recall the channel just started programming unannounced one night and a press release went out the next day. It seemed timed to spoil the recent announcement of Ten’s upcoming HD channel which was still a few weeks away from launching.

I watch tv through a Telstra Tbox.
Not sure if this means anything, but today the logos for 7Two, 7mate and TV4ME have disappeared and the channel names are just in plain font. All other channels have remained the same.,

Why not a UK TV channel to compete with Foxtel ? British shows all day every day. Considering that people aren’t watching USA shows so much now a UK channel could do ok. Move the lifestyle British stuff off 7Two and get some more documentaries and soaps etc. Get back the rights to classic Coronation Street that used to air on 7two maybe add Hollyoaks. Try and get shows like Peep Show, Trollied, and more recent British comedies. In the morning get British kids shows , afternoon soaps and evenings soaps/ documentaries / British comedies .

That has been my suggestion for a while. A younger hipper edgier 7TWO rebranded as 7Brit.

7 - Flagship network
7Two - refocused second gen ent network with encores from 7, sport. US premium drama and comedy
7Brit - 24/7 British fare presented in a younger hipper manner than current 7TWO
7mate - Young men skewing network

BBC is looking to rebrand its UKTV on Foxtel as “BBC Brit” sometime this year.

UGH why? Should be BBC Australia like their other counterparts.

BBC Brit is a global channel brand being rolled out by BBC Worldwide much in the same vein as BBC First

ah, makes sense then. Just seems weird “British Broadcasting Corporation Brit”.

yup and BBC Knowledge will likely become BBC Earth.
