This channel looks like it has absolutely no direction. If it was just a movie channel at least you know what it’s all about, but to have random dramas, kids shows, Seinfeld and Amazing Race as well just makes no sense. I think they could have named it better.
Sorry, I meant a couple of title cards, not a promo loop.
I agree.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure they did it with the launch of other channels. They need to have the promo on high rotation until he launch for those that haven’t seen it yet.
No mention in any of the marketing about it being MPEG-4. When it launches, I expect a barrage of complaints on social media to the tune of “Why can’t I receive 7flix?”
Surely they’ve got the message by now. Upgrade or miss out. They’re already missing out on Racing.com and Nine HD.
Better luck next time. 7heaven on 7seven (77)
The problem is that it’s difficult to do that. A majority of people cannot use technology well - most information the networks would give them would go in one ear and out the other.
Viewers who feel they’re missing out on 7flix and Nine HD can seek assistance at any number of consumer electronics stores and get the same explanation - that they need to upgrade their STB or TV to a more recent model.
It seems MPEG-4 is a bit like gaming consoles. No one buys a PS4 on launch when it has no games; most consumers wait for there to be a number of exclusive titles launched before purchasing. Likewise, viewers won’t upgrade to a new TV or STB until there are a number of channels and services which simply aren’t available otherwise. I remember that a lot of people upgraded to digital back in 2009, because suddenly there were a few new free channels which couldn’t be received via analogue.
Wonder when 7HD launches… same day ?
If it is, I guess they’ll make an announcement after a while to get more free publicity.
Correction re launches as it launched years ago…
and 9Life?
MPEG2 unfortunately
So if my LG tv has an option of picking Australia or NZ when scanning channels and it picks up MPEG4 it means it can be used in NZ ? So most Aussie tv’s can if they pick up MPEG4 ?
that’s weird because I’m pretty sure my parents slightly-older TV doesn’t pick it up, same as they can’t get 9HD. It was a 2008 model so If they’d bought their TV maybe a couple of months later they’d have likely got mpeg4.
So people are going to watch this in huge numbers, more so than 9Life or SBSFood ? I just can’t see it happening.
Hrmm. Seems like 7flix is the 9GO! of Seven. More of a mixed variety of shows rather than the name intends (movies). It will be interesting to see how it launches, and if there will be any response to viewers who haven’t upgraded their set-top boxes yet, Me included
One wonders why seven haven’t sent out a press release on this channel. There been scant detail provided.
They sent the launch video.

Looking at the “A NEW CHANNEL WITH THE PERFECT MIX” perhaps they could have called it “Mix-76”.
