Times have changed. Years ago TV Week defended that the “popular” Logie awards would always be based on the public vote, not who is the least worst from a pre-determined list.
the popularity of Fisk should have guaranteed her a Gold nomination

This system for nominations is deeply flawed. Networks or streamers are not putting forward actors from shows which have ended and prefer to choose actors from ongoing programs. So the quality performances are being missed. It’s a joke.
We need to go back to having separate Most Popular and Most Outstanding categories.
Didn’t they win something in 2023? But since then nothing. Any reason why?
Even the nominations they get don’t all make logical sense to me.
Why is Muster Dogs under structured reality program when it is clearly a contest and should be under listed there.
Why are The Voice and DWTS listed under entertainment program when both are reality TV contests?
The who Best Entertainment Program category seems to be a miss.
Interesting that TV Week is launching a new award this year, The Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Reporter, added alongside the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent and the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter.
Usually awards are named after people after they die (back in the '60s, the Best New Talent Logie award was named in tribute to comedian George Wallace after he died).
No denying Martin’s journalistic credentials but it seems an odd tribute.
I noticed that too. Ray did win 5 Gold Logies, so it is deserved.
Woodbridge? Irwin? Barr/Shirvington? Wright? Craft? Bracey? Alcott? To quickly name a few suggestions…
Can’t say I was expecting that one
Again!?
The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is up for Scripted Comedy Program. Should really be in the Best Entertainment Program category.
I also dont understand why they insist of having the 30 minute “Logies Red Carpet” attached to Sonia Kruger’s list of shows?
No questioning his credential, but rather the practice of naming an award in tribute of someone as usually only occurs after said person has died. But as he isn’t dead, does naming the award in his honour give him any input in deciding the winner?
Also, why are they persisting with this again?
Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Presenter
Peter Overton, 9News, 9Network
For a newsreader who is largely unseen in most of the country.
Only for breaking news and late news
I find it odd too with The Ray Martin Award. This is usually done as a tribute. I do wonder if he has ever been short listed for the Hall of Fame?
Next, we will be seeing the Lisa McCune Award for Best Actress…
Yep - clearly a choice by Nine’s Sydney based PR team
Also means all the names awards are named after male s
Hopefully 10 will make a promo for Poh and Sofia too, to air during MasterChef tonight.
There’s been a Poh one. I’m home from work today and saw it just before.
Ray said the same thing when he was interviewed on Ten News earlier. He said he had to check to see whether he was dead.
This is an absolute joke!!!
How can an American show set in America with (mostly) American actors qualify for Australian awards? Just because it was made in Australia? TV Week is cooked.
Seeing and hearing a lot of criticism on radio and media about this.
