Id have the Logies focus on the industry based awards too. And have limited “popular awards”. Like the Gold, Actress, Actress, Drama Program and Comedy Program awards, and thats it.

I thought everyone here hated that show?

I’d hate to see the Logies turned into another sterile industry only show like AACTAs (Having both would seem redundant). I think a major appeal of the Logies is the public participation as opposed to awards chosen by faceless industry nominees. Of course it certainly has lots of faults though including limited nominees plus some strange category choices (that seem to change every year).

They’ve started already:

We hear the musical act is rumoured to be the steady hand of Conrad Sewell 😉 https://t.co/DGOh2AQYBV

Couldn’t think of anything worse. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I can remember a few sketches done long ago in the past where they used actors/presenters from various TV shows doing a bit and compiling them together. I can also remember some skits where they borrowed bits from TV shows and joined them together to create laughs.

The teams at Have You Been Paying Attention/The Cheap Seats do some good ones with news/chat/reality shows coming back from breaks. Maybe they could do some for the Logies. There’s also the satirist who does the political clips mixed with famous movies/TV shows to create a skit which are often shown on Insiders.

Agree that the Logies do have some strange category changes, and where programs fit into them too. Bondi Rescue has been nominated for the Most Popular Factual Program. Reality Program and Lifestyle Program.

The “Panel or Current Affairs Program” award is a weird one to be honest. The Front Bar was nominated alongside shows like 7.30, Four Corners and Australian Story last year. Whereas other “comedy panel shows” were either up for the Entertainment Program award or Comedy Program award (for other similar shows like The Cheap Seat, The Hundred with Andy Lee, HYBPA etc)

Just on Conrad in all seriousness, he was fantastic live at the MCG on Kings Birthday Monday last week pre-match.

Those Gold nominees are atrocious.

Good lineup IMO. Although would have been nice to see Kochie included in the gold. As long as Hamish doesnt win again, i’ll be happy.

Very poor line up for me.

Where’s Tracy Grimshaw for her many years at Today and A Current Affair?

And Leigh Sales? She’s nothing special.

Mark Coles Smith? Who? Low rating drama on the ABC. As if people know who he is.

Hamish and Sonia again? Boring.

I thought we were going to have a bit of a shake up. Clearly not.

As usual some weird classification of programs - why Lego Masters isn’t competing as a reality show, but is Entertainment. The Cheap Seats also listed as entertainment rather than comedy?? Entertainment seems like a catch all for networks.

Kochie seems like a missed opportunity by Seven - perhaps didn’t plan ahead far enough with the noms. Couldn’t Nine come up with someone other than Hamish?

Kochie would be next year though.

Aren’t these awards based on the previous year? As evidenced by MasterChef being labeled as it’s season from last year.

Is this a joke?

Kochie could be nominated for last year (or any in the last 21 years I suppose).

Leigh Sales over Tracey Grimshaw? Really? Osher Gunsberg over other reality shows that actually rated? Same goes for Sonia Kruger too.

Shaun Micallef for gold and Presente? Now thats good.

Underbelly: Vanishing Act nominated for Popular Drama? Really? Sure, that rated, but it was crap!

Glad that The Twelve and Fisk 2 are nominated for a few awards
