I think they should do a virtual ceremony at the end of the year and just award Most Outstanding awards for 2019 and 2020. No need for the Most Popular awards.
Then start fresh in 2022.

The Oscars and Golden Globes were not cancelled, they just proceeded virtually.
Stupid comment. Nearly every industry has awards night, theyāre just not on the TV. Itās a shame the Logies donāt recognise anything BTS like costumes, writing etc, on a separate industry night though.
Thatās similar to what I am about to write below, since my last post yesterday evening.
I think Logies organisers have to realise itās not possible to do a full scale ceremony under the current situation. I doubt the glitz and glamour will return in time in 2022. Perhaps more like 2023.
I suggest three TV specials, each 90 minutes long, be done to recognise the programs that were broadcast in 2019, 2020 and 2021. The proposed dates are:
62nd Logie Awards (for 2019 calendar year) - Sunday November 28
63rd Logie Awards (for 2020 calendar year) - February 2022
64th Logie Awards (for 2021 calendar year) - mid 2022
For all three specials, only the outstanding categories will be awarded with the winner to be interviewed virtually (by Zoom or satellite cross). No popular awards or Gold Logie. In Memoriam segment will be included.
Lastly, I think Logies organisers should terminate the contract with the Queensland Government, and move the awards back to Melbourne, in order for the TV specials to happen. Then put the hosting rights out to tender again for 2023 and beyond.
Unless the organisers want to terminate the contract, there are probably legal ways the contract can be āworked aroundā to avoid having to do that
Should be fairly simple to fulfil the contract by having the next Awards show in Queensland but also still have a special event in between.
I donāt see why the contract with Queensland should be broken. Australian TV would benefit from more productions outside of Sydney and Melbourne.
They should allow a peopleās vote then announce the winners via a press conference and a virtual audience
With the passing of Bert Newton recently, i wonder if next yearās awards will honour him.
Some talks are to name the actual awards after him and call them The Berts. Some are saying to name the Gold Logie after him. For me, i think thereās one award more suited to him, and its the āBert Newton Award for the Most Popular Presenterā - like how they name an award the āGraham Kennedy Award for the Most Popular New Talentā.
On another note - i think the so called Logies Website is very poor. Itās this site here: Tv Week Logies | Now To Love. There are some articles. And cant find out winners or even nominees unless i press the āload moreā button over and over again. Itās hard to find past nominations of the awards, particularly from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s on that site (and even on wikipedia up to the mid 1990s).
The AACTAās have their own website and you can find most nominations of the television awards online and on wikipedia, even when it was called the AFIās .
Instead of an in memoriam during the next Logies telecast, Nine should produce a Logies special honoring all of the big names that have passed during the past few years- Newton, Sigley, Henderson, Leckie, John Cornell, Dieter Brummer, Lorrae Desmond, Jono Coleman, Jeannie Little, Gerald Stoneā¦
If they donāt rename the ceremony they should at least add his name to the Gold, Or even the lifetime achievement award like the cecil b demille award.
This yearās Logie Awards will be held at Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, down the road from The Star Gold Coast.
It is in May, June/July or November?
Needs more than a change of venue. A change of network would be a good start.
Glad that they have finally announced a date.
No details of voting process yet, but over on TVTonight website, he believes that the revamped voting process will be from 1 Jan 2021 until 31 March 2022. Will see what that entails soon, i guess.
Now that the date and venue have been confirmed, there should be a way to recognise shows that were broadcast in 2019 and 2020 so they are not forgotten.
As we know, the 2022 Logies Awards are to be held on June 19 (in 2.5 months time). Eligibility of the shows that can be nominated are from 1 January until 31 March 2022. Which was two days ago. Surely voting for the awards will start very soon? A few weeks of voting (assuming all most of April?), then a couple of weeks to count the votes and the nominations revealed in mid May?
