Perhaps the Byron Baes cast should be invited. Having them spend a few hours in the same room as the geniuses who produce Australian television might wake them up to what is wrong with it and why people are turning off in droves.
Do you think they all have to do Rat tests before entering? It could be a super spreader event and disrupt a lot of shows even if one person has it and sneaks in
Just mentioned on Have You Been Paying Attention:
Tony Martin will be the voiceover again for this Sunday’s telecast.
The Logies are back on Channel 9
SUNDAY, JUNE 19, AT 7.00PM ON CHANNEL 9 AND 9NOW
The Logies, the most anticipated event on the Australian television calendar, is back on Channel 9 and 9Now on Sunday, June 19, after a two-year hiatus.
Broadcast LIVE from 7.00pm on Queensland’s Gold Coast, the 62nd TV WEEK Logie Awards will once again bring Australia’s biggest TV stars together for an epic night of celebration, glitz and glamour.
Leila McKinnon , David Campbell and Renee Bargh get things started on the red carpet, giving viewers front-row access to the very best (and worst) frocks and fashion, as the stars arrive at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre within The Star Gold Coast Entertainment Precinct – a brand new location.
From 7.30pm, the official TV WEEK Logie Awards begin, with 25 Logies to be awarded, including the new Silver Logie for Most Popular Australian Actor or Actress in an International Program. From this year, the Most Popular Presenter Logie will be known as the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter, recognising the late Bert Newton as Australia’s ultimate TV presenter.
One of Australia’s most well-known comedians, Tony Martin also returns as the voice of the Logies, and popular TV personalities across all networks will form a stellar lineup of presenters, including:
Mel B, Hamish & Andy, Melissa Leong, Karl Stefanovic, Julia Morris, Tom Gleeson, Amanda Keller, Dr Chris Brown, Dave Hughes, Osher Gunsberg, Leigh Sales, Ada Nicodemou, Waleed Aly, Tony Armstrong, Jeremy Fernandez, Emma Watkins, Tim Minchin, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Dylan Alcott, Claudia Karvan, Leah Purcell, Chrissie Swan, Lincoln Younes, Allison Langdon, Christie Whelan-Browne, Sophie Monk, Rodger Corser, Kumi Taguchi, Sarah Abo, Patti Newton, Rove McManus, David Speers, Eddie Perfect, Richard Wilkins, Daniel MacPherson and Larry Emdur .
The nation’s biggest party commands some special international and Australian artists, who will join forces for a live performance extravaganza.
Multi-platinum-award singer Calum Scott will captivate audiences with his dazzling voice, performing new songs from his upcoming album, Bridges .
The heart and soul of Australian rock ’n’ roll, Jimmy Barnes , will be joined by his 12-piece band and a very special guest to mark 30 years since the release of his 10-times platinum album, Soul Deep .
Taking things up a gear will be one of Australia’s most successful artists, Jess Mauboy , hitting the high notes with her classics and the first TV performance of her new single, Automatic .
The party extends outside of the ballroom at the new TV WEEK Logies Live Site, where fans can mingle with the stars of Married at First Sight , Travel Guides and The Block , and enjoy live performances from The Rogue Traders, Lachie Gill, Gaudion and Sofia Isella and Lionette .
Australia will find out who the most popular television programs and personalities were over the past year from Sunday, June 19, at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now. Fans can vote now for their favourite star at tvweeklogiesvote.com .
Then, from 5.30am Monday, June 20, the TODAY Show and TODAY EXTRA will broadcast live from Broadbeach’s Kurrawa Surf Club, with exclusive gossip on what went down after the cameras stopped rolling. Both programs will have exclusive access to the big winners and all the behind-the-scenes action from the most glamorous night on Australian television.
Why do anything anymore then?
Stay home if you’re sick.
With most people now vaccinated and having already had Covid at least once in the past 6 months, I don’t think Covid will be an issue.
Most are vaccinated but not necessarily fully vaccinated (third booster shot).
Also, “most” people in Australia haven’t had Covid.
Current stats:
Total cases: 7.66M
Population: +25,763M
and a lot of those could be people that have had COVID more than once
I think it would have been nice to have a previous Gold Logie winner (who is not also nominated this year) in the presenting list who could announce this year’s Gold Logie.
I really liked Rebecca Gibney doing it on her 10th anniversary in 2019 to Tom Gleeson.
Georgie Parker - Last one 20 years ago (2002)
Lisa McCune - First win 25 years ago (1997)
Jana Wendt - Winner 30 years ago (1992)
Any of these would be great.
I presume either Dave Hughes, Tom Gleeson or Hamish & Andy are doing the opener. They really need some fresh comedians to present or even host - anyone from HYPBA would lighten the mood significantly.
That’s the number cases that have been reported… It’s been widely estimated by health officials the numbers could be double that.
I agree with former Gold Logie winners in awarding the current Gold Logie. And should be more of a tradition.
As for the opener, it should be someone new. Dave Hughes has opened quite a few times, and has gone more “downwards” than anything. Tom Gleeson is good, bit not everyone’s cup of tea, so probably need a break from him - for now. However, Hamish and Andy do some sketches and appear to be more well liked than the other two, so they might do it again.
Ideally, Shaun Micallef would be ideal to open up.
I don’t know why I found this comment so funny, nearly spat out my drink. Was just completely different to most of the comments in this thread. Kind of agree with OnAir though, like a ‘why bother then’.
Apparently these are some reasons that Nine suggests as to why you should to vote for Karl for Gold Logie
I love how there’s not a lot of old footage they could use without Lisa lol Tik Tok has better compilations of him.
Saw this today. I would think these are some of the reasons why he is not the best choice for Gold lol
I assume that the Hall Of Fame inductee will be announced on the night of the ceremony? As there have been no announcement made so far.
The last 5 inductees have been: Home and Away (2015); Noni Hazlehurst (2016); Kerri-Anne Kennerley (2017); 60 Minuntes (2018) and Kerry O’Brien (2019).
I wonder who’ll be inducted this year. I know there’s a whole list of people who should be in. Heather Mitchell, Denise Drysdale, Caroline Jones, Daryl Somers (or Somers Carroll Production to include the late Ernie Carrol); Ray Martin, Bruce McAvaney to name a few should have been included already.
Neighbours?
Neighbours has already been inducted (in 2005).
