62nd TV Week Logie Awards 2021-22

They have one I’ve seen less often that includes both competing for the gold.

there was an earlier attempt at the People’s Choice Awards in 1992/93 (Seven/Woman’s Day) but then tried again in the late 90s between Seven and New Idea.

Yes that’s the attempt I remember. It was around the time Bert Newton was with 7. Can’t remember if he hosted?

Bert was at Ten by this stage. Garry McDonald hosted in 1992, Gary Sweet in 1993.

Sunday Herald Sun reports Patti Newton will attend next Sunday’s awards ceremony on the Gold Coast, presenting Bert Newton Award for most popular presenter.

Mel B, who was recently revealed as a new judge on The Masked Singer, will also present an award.

Jimmy Barnes, Jessica Mauboy and Tim Minchin will perform at the awards (updated):

Good to read that Jimmy, Barnes, Jessica Mauboy and Tim Minchin perform. UK singer Calum Scott is performing too. But then again, is 4 performances too many? Won’t this drag on the show a little? Two would be enough (even if they do duets).

Good to read that Patti Newton will be there to present the Bert Newton Award (for Most Popular Presenter).

Only one week to go until the ceremony .

Is it just me or has anyone else not seen an ad for Melissa Leong to win Gold? Is it only shown during Masterchef? I don’t watch it often.

Yes during MasterChef

Are we gonna have the Stars of La Brea on the Red Carpet?

That’s not an Australian show.

But apparently the Young Sheldon cast crashed the party in 2019 so he thinks that the cast of La Brea should also qualify to come and look like deers in the headlights :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

La Brea is not an Australian show, but since the entire drama is filmed in Victoria, the main cast should get an invite to the Logies.

Love him or not, you can’t deny Kochie’s contribution to breakfast television. After 21 years straight as Sunrise host, plus a few years hosting an earlier version, I think he would now be the longest serving breakfast host in Australian tv history (no doubt someone will prove that wrong).
Surely that should be recognised? At least with a Logie nomination, in the same way the likes of Ray Meagher and John Wood were previously nominated.

Really? Just like that. Tickets are so scarce. Networks are allocated a limited number of tickets and they choose which of their talent attends. Partners are not even allowed to attend unless the person is nominated for a Gold Logie or have previously won one.

How is the order of nominees decided for voting? Seems random but fixed order. A properly designed voting form should randomise the order for each voter to avoid any advantage to being at the top of the ballot.

they probably couldn’t think of anything they’d rather not do more

Part of the Le Brea production is being filmed at my friend’s property outside Melbourne. Seeing as most of the people involved have been camping on site for the past few weeks perhaps a quick trip to a much warmer Gold Coast would be welcomed.
