It’s a slippery slope basing arguments on who should win any Logies based on ratings.
Agree, many shows have a passive viewing that isn’t connected to or reliant on the personalities of the hosts or key presenters. And especially with ensemble casts its hard to target one personality as the reason a show’s ratings.
Also worth noting that The Living Room for example had much higher ratings than Today while several individual news bulletins also have viewer numbers around 300,000.
That promo really bugs me due to how it almost entirely consists of Channel Nine personalities.
I know it’s been a few years since the Logies were held but the last time I checked, the Logies are designed to celebrate the entire Australian TV industry rather than just Channel Nine shows and personalities. As such, their promos should reflect that…
Rogue Traders seem to be the big act for the show this year. I mean Ok… but will be nice to see Natalie Basingwaithe singing again on stage. Maybe a tribute song to Neighbours?
They could get all the TV personalities and singers on stage. Delta Goodrem, Alan Fletchers band, Angela Bishops old group “hard and fast from behind”, The Shantoozies, Kerry Anne Kennerly.
Why are only cast members from Channel Nine programs involved with the fan event?
I’ll say it again - the Logies are not a Channel Nine awards ceremony. Why then does everything surrounding the actual ceremony make it seem like that’s the case? Suppose the other networks are hesitant about supporting it. If that’s the case, you might as well end the Logies and start from scratch in developing an awards ceremony that can have the backing/support of the entire Australian TV industry.
And at one stage (late 80s/early 90s) Seven tried the People’s Choice Awards for a couple of years as alternative.
Wiki says 1998 and 1999 but what I was thinking of was a decade earlier I’m sure.
