its uses what people vote for freely and including those who dont have a box which imo this is way better
It’s not the ratings system which is the issue but the Logies nomination/voting process - the ginormous gap between the Australian viewing public and those who participate in said process is more evident with each passing year
I’m thrilled to see Eve Morey up there for both Gold and Most Popular Actress, but I’m frustrated that she wasn’t recognised in the Outstanding category. I admit that I haven’t see the work done by the other Outstanding nominees but surely Eve should’ve been up there with them.
Or don’t ‘the powers that be’ bother with soapies because they think they’re below them??
I don’t know anyone from recent seasons of those programs.
i dissagree it its the rating system it needs to either be abolished or overhauled
According to TV Tonight, Sarah Harris and Richard Wilkins announced the nominations at The Star Gold Coast.
The award is for Most Popular Personality on television, so does not make sense to be picked by a panel of experts.
Once again, it’s looking like Twitter commentary will be just about the only highlight of the TV Week Logie Awards…provided that they manage to not screw up the Hall of Fame/In Memoriam segments!
Yep, I agree. It seems incredibly hard to believe that someone like Sunrise Weatherman Sam Mac could be Gold Logie finalist worthy.
That has to be the weakest gold Logie lineup ever
I think Rodger Corser, Amanda Keller and Waleed Aly deserve to be there.
The rest have obviously made it through huge publicity campaigns from fans, like Eve Morey, when Neighbours fans got together on social media and supported her and the show after the her amazing exit scenes.
Then we have the self-publicised campaigns from Tom Gleeson and Sam Mac which happen every year now and look really shonky. And then there’s Caosta Georgiadis. Was it a huge push from the ABC? Whatever the reason, it’s left everyone baffled.
So basically the Gold Logie is now a joke?
Also they get Sarah Harris up there to announce the nominees and she’s not even one of them, that’s just mean.
Arguably it has been since Karl Stefanovic and Hamish Blake campaigned hard for themselves to win Gold and and they embarrassingly did.
It’s also got me thinking that certain people prob do get more noms in categories like Gold but they cant have all of them from the same channel so they make it look varied. Clearly Eve had UK voters voting for her, Tom and Sam had campaigns as a joke and I have no idea who was voting rhe garden gnome? Also Walleed but not Lisa W? Carrie nom for best presenter but hasnt been on screen in over 6 months.
Not surprised at all, the readership of the mag is tiny and the masses couldn’t care less about them.
But it was also all online voting.
I guess we shouldn’t complain because it’s probably only a matter of time before one of the ‘stars’ of MAFS is nominated for gold…
