61st TV Week Logie Awards 2019

Unfortunately I don’t think anyone would have been thinking about him and channel 9 would not have pushed for him to get nominated. I hope it’s Sarah Harris’ year!

Harris is great. But most people wouldn’t know she is still on television, being hidden away on Studio 10.

Lee Lin Chin should be thereabouts for another gold nomination I’d think.

Even though she’s barely been seen on television (aside from the ads for Uber Eats with Ray Martin and the Transport for NSW/Tomorrow’s Sydney propaganda advertising campaign) since signing off from SBS World News last July?

Lee Lin Chin will not be nominated, as her name wasnt on the online voting forms.

Sunday Herald Sun’s Fiona Byrne is suggesting Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac could be a surprise Gold Logie nominee.

These been announced yet?

Not yet. Apparently, they get annpunced at approx 2.30pm.

Not long to go

TV Week are tweeting the nominations now.

How could Joe Jonas be eligible for the most popular new talent? He is a seasoned performer as a member of Jonas Brothers.
Travel Guides has been nominated in the most popular lifestyle program category. It could spring a surprise by ending recent domination by The Living Room.

Sam Mac, the weather guy from Sunrise, is up for the Gold Logie? WTF?

Most of these Gold nominations are ridiculous. I do think a panel of experts should choose the nominees and then the voting public can vote on these to ensure some form of integrity.

GOLD:

I would’ve thought Costa from Gardening Australia was the bigger WTF. Up there with last year’s nominee Andrew Winter. They need to whittle down the nominees if they can’t come up with some bigger names than those that have been nominated.

GOLD LOGIE nominees:
Sam Mac (Sunrise), Amanda Keller (DWTS, Living Room), Waleed Aly (The Project), Roger Corser (Doctor Doctor), Tom Gleeson (Hard Quiz), Costa Georgiadis (Gardening Australia), Eve Morey (Neighbours)

Eve Morey has been nominated for both most popular actress and Gold Logie. I think it’s due to the fan vote for her brilliant portrayal of Sonya in Neighbours, especially in the months leading up to the character’s death.
Finally some overdue recognition for Amanda Keller as host of The Living Room and DWTS. She is a solid favourite to claim the Gold Logie, but don’t underestimate Rodger Corser.

6 nominations for the popular awards instead of the usual 5. Gold Logie have 7 nominees.

I’m beginning to think the Australian television ratings system is as deeply flawed as the news polls that predicted a landslide Labor federal election win. The popular nominations simply don’t reflect what the ratings tell us Australians are watching.

At least I have heard of Costa. Never heard of Eve Morey before right now.
