60th TV Week Logie Awards 2018

Something really suss about many of these nominees.

No Lisa, No Karl, No Walled and no Carrie. I’m in shock.

Who the hell is Andrew Winter? A gold Logie nominee? Did somebody hack the nominations?

So the Tracy Grimshaw campaign has worked. Grant Denyer has been nominated but by the time the Logies airs, his show will be axed. :joy:

The most popular presenters are pretty much all the gold logie nominees too.

Just read the full list, we are in dire straits if thats our talent.

Interesting Gold Logie list. I expected someone from The Project to be there.

Good to see Amanda Keller there.
I am happy, but surprised, to see Andrew Winter nominated for both the Gold and Popular Presenter awards. I know Selling Houses Australia is popular on Foxtel, but didn’t realise how popular it is. (The show had a small airtime on SevenTwo late last year too)

Aaron Jeffrey gets a nomination for Most Popular actor because Underbelly screened during the nomination period and not much else was screening then, even though the series and his acting was panned.

Almost every show that actresses have been nominated in the Most Popular Actress category has been axed.

Matty J - nominated for the Most Popular New Talent award, for his 2 episode “guest host” for The Living Room? Sigh

Stupid channel 7 should’ve promoted Melissa Doyle for gold like Nine for Tracy Grimshaw. She deserves a Gold Logie for many of her interviews on SN (and probably should’ve won gold as well when she was still on Sunrise, but that’s for another time), but as usual the boffins have given up on the logies knowing full well that even when they every did bother to ‘promote’ anyone from their network they would never get nominated.

The Logies have seriously become a joke. Should be renamed ‘Let’s promote the f**k out of CH9 and CH10 Awards’.

Don Burke got his name back on the logies for all the wrong reasons.

I mean Sophie Monk and Helen Bidou weren’t even nominated.

Great news everyone - the NRL Footy Show isn’t nominated.

TBH, I seem to faintly recall the likes of Mel Doyle being promoted by Seven, but it seems the Australian public dislikes her so much to the point that Karl Stefanovic is nominated instead of her.

How long has Graham Kennedy’s name been linked with the publicly voted ‘new talent’ award? I may be wrong but I thought his name was was given to an industry voted new talent award, with the public vote a separate award.

That’s another flaw in the voting method. In the past, you could vote for someone in the Gold Logie category who you didn’t vote for in another category. Now you have to choose someone for Gold you have already chosen in Actor/Actress or Host category.

In fairness, Ch9 and Ch10 had more shows nominated because they produce more shows in the categories. Ch7 had their shows nominated too but when your schedule is dominated by wall to wall reality shows, there’s only on category you can compete in, with many shows.

Ch7 have no Comedies, few dramas and no successful Light Entertainment shows.

Matty filled in for Chris Brown on The Living Room while the veteran television host was off shooting Survivor, and says he watched a LOT of the show in preparation.

You guys, Dr Chris Brown is the host of Survivor this year

Survivor/I’m A Celeb. Same same. You can’t expect a journalist who works for a television mahazine to be able to tell them apart. :joy:

Just as I thought. The Logies have been hijacked by publicity departments in a nomination and voting process that wouldn’t be out of place in Putin’s Russia. Australian television continues the slide into the mire.
