Trolling attempt aside - the responses to this are unhinged. The assumption that someone who wouldn’t vote Labor would automatically be a Lib/Nat voter is insane
There are other options….

No fault of Leo’s, but sadly the #auspol twitter nutjobs that already were convinced that something was fishy with Leo or 6 News are going to use this as ammo / “evidence” that the operation is a Coalition / Newscorp / [Insert Conservative Individual or Organisation Here] conspiracy.
Absolutely ridiculous, but not unexpected sadly.
Lowering the voting age to 14? Is that meant to be a joke?
I can’t actually tell from the Twitter thread.
“He’s 14” is now trending on Twitter, must be from people trying to calm down the nutters and conspiracy theorists
Leo’s joke was that the Labor launch wasn’t enough to get him to vote for Labor, because he’s 14. But that was misinterpreted as some kind of Libs reference
it certainly doesn’t help that the majority of the people who bite are as thick as two bricks, but I do wonder whether being provocative with posts like this is really a smart move.
I was just reading through some of the replies. Far out some people are cooked
Must admit I’ve muted muted quite a few people on twitter lately Leo included. Not for their views, but the ridiculous replies they receive and twitter thinking i might enjoy that kind of post. Hopefully can unmute in a few weeks, but no doubt their anger and misunderstanding of politics will continue.
Agreed, however it has resulted in this
But I can’t imagine a situation where the abuse / harassment is worth the publicity / attention.
honestly, this is why i believe that social media should be a place to GET AWAY from the lows of life, and politics. Leo made a light hearted joke and doesn’t deserve the abuse he’s getting.
I hope these people abusing Leo have a long good look at themselves. You shouldn’t get abused like this for a joke.
@Leo_Puglisi6 Stay strong, man. You are awesome at what you do, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
What do you expect? It’s twitter, everyone on there has an opinion and people can get angry really fast. The best thing is to keep your opinions to yourself, especially when there’s heavy sides of the topic
I find the whole thing baffling. I’m still not quite sure what the joke was. Or what it was intending.
It’s why I usually choose to stay out of those threads.
Thanks for all the support
Here’s a piece that may help help you understand it a bit more:
Nope considering this is the type of behaviour #auspol ultra-partisans regularly engage in. We’ve sadly seen this happen too many times - especially with high-profile women journalists.
@Leo_Puglisi6, with respect, do you not think you were setting yourself up for failure with that tweet? Surely you have an idea of what twitter trolls can be like by now and the inevitable replies you’d receive from people who couldn’t take a joke?
It was a silly little baiting thing, but literally all the comments that I featured in the piece were AFTER they were told/realised the joke. That’s not normal behaviour.
Ew that photo of me hahaha ! That was from the early days of 6… Anyways while I am here, I am back on air with your weather tonight AND on location from the regional Victorian town of Bendigo.
