59th TV Week Logie Awards 2017

Nobody else (network wise) wants it, it appears anyway. Bauer could shop it around, but it doesn’t seem to happen. Out of Crown would be nice, but it’d probably just end up at Star Casino…

Yeah, you’re probably right. If it does go to Sydney, I think you might be right about going to Star (like the AACTAs).

And it does seem like no other network wants it (are Bauer even trying to get a better offer? Doesn’t look like it).

Last we heard, Nine kept wanting it and secured it in a multi-year deal. The others have probably lost interest in recent years. Seven doesn’t even bother promoting stars and shows for award nominations as the others do. Ten would probably do a no frills version.

7 don’t seem to have really bothered since the whole Karl Stefanovic / Hamish Blake/ Scott Cam trifecta of dodgy Gold Logie wins.

I’m honestly surprised that Seven haven’t tried to get people from MKR like Manu what’s-his-last-name or Pete “Paleo” Evans a Gold Logie after all these years!

Well don’t be because I just told you Seven gave up on these awards three years ago. They are doing nothing to promote this show which they believe Nine just uses them to promote their own network.

Leave it in Melbourne. It’s dead anyway. Lost all credibility when the likes of Karl/Hamish/Carrie & co. won.

I don’t see anything to distinguish those more recent winners from previous ones. The Awards have always had a credibility problem as their main function is to sell a soap magazine. If anything, the advent of on-line voting has meant the more recent winners are a least chosen by more than just the few magazine readers bothered to clip out a coupon. With the coupon system of the past it was theoretically possible for publicity departments to directly affect the vote by purchasing mags rather than just influencing it.

Sydney wants it.

In light of yet another pathetic and childish “Sydney vs Melbourne” rivalry piece, I suggest that we do the same to the Logies that we did to Federal Parliament: Host the event in Canberra! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I think the last time Sydney hosted the Logies was 1986, before then it was 1981 and before then it was back in the 1960s, so they’re well overdue for a Sydney visit

A change of network would also be well overdue.

Yep, I agree. This year’s Logies will mark the 22nd consecutive time they’ve been on Nine.

I did like the idea of 7, 9 and 10 taking turns hosting, year by year.

I’d favour a change of venue more than anything.

American singer Andy Grammer will perform at this month’s Logie Awards. He is best known for his recent hit Fresh Eyes, which peaked at No.5 on the ARIA singles chart in late January and is No.34 this week.

I don’t disagree but i doubt they’d get any other takers.

Yes - Seven and Foxtel seem invested in the AACTAs and Ten had its ARIAs, so that just leaves …

The big question is “Why?”. He has nothing to do with Australian television so why should a one-hit wonder be on a show like that?

i agree. Andy Grammy is not needed at the Logies. He has no relevance to Australian television. And is it safe to say that I had to google him (and his song “Fresh Eyes”) to know who he actually is?

James Blunt is also performing. But at least he was a judge on The X Factor Aus in 2015, so at least he has some relevance to Aussie tv.

Casey Donovan, is Australian, and won Idol and I’m a Celebrity, so I am glad she is there.
