2CH Sydney

What a shame, he is a good operator. I know that Chris Kearns has been ill but I have not heard him in ages. Is he still with 2CH, the website says he is.

Interesting is he doing it from Sydney? Or maybe he moved to Melbourne and I didnā€™t know.

I would say he is doing it from his home studio. Why would he move to Melbourne!!

Because itā€™s not Sydney?

Of courseā€¦ Sorry I had a flashback to the 80s where you employ local staff  . Listening to too many 80s songs of late.

Radio presenters sitting in remote studios (either in their home or at interstate stations) is nothing new. Itā€™s been happening for decades. Graham Kennedy had a radio studio set up in his beach house in Frankston in the 1970s so he didnā€™t have to leave the house to do his 3XY show.

John Blackman, years ago, did a lot of radio work from his home studio in Melbourne including when he was part of the breakfast team at Triple M in Adelaide back in the mid-2000s

There would be heaps of examples of similar happening in more recent times.

Craig Huggins at Gold 104.3 in Melbourne also covers shifts at Cruise 1323 in Adelaide.

Wow. I guess a being normal radio listener they had me fooled.

Still if I am in Sydney, Iā€™d rather someone who could look out the window and say there is a big storm here Pyrmont rather than have some guy in Frankston who doesnā€™t know. There is still something special about local live radio. It is luxury nowadays to be even live (let alone ā€œlocalā€) especially for music radio!

Oh, I completely agree, but radio has always had that element of remote working before it became fashionable.

Possibly just temporary. Going by their website their normal hosts are on break.

I would think so. Besides most (if not all) 3MP hosts are voice tracking from regional Victorian stations. Donā€™t think 3MP even have Melbourne studios at all.

I donā€™t have an issue with this, it gives them a chance to work in metro while staying regional, and gives the station life with announcers, which otherwise it wouldnā€™t have - like Magic.

2CH have updated their show schedule. No sign of Chris Kearns at night.

Heā€™s probably left 2CH as well?

Surprised that Tim Webster is still there. Come on Nine Radio, give him (and some of these other ex-2CH announcers) a spot on 2UE!

The Odds of Having 2CH on FM are a Long Shot, Unless the FM Band Expands.

Realistically, thereā€™s probably more of a chance of seeing 2CHā€™s DAB+ channel quietly switched off!

The opportunity of an FM conversion went away after DMG Radio brought 96.9 and later 95.3.

Most likely, but apparently it is a good money earner for SEN as advertising with them would be a waste of time and money with virtually no listeners.

Chris Kearns Funeral Announcement was in the Tele this morning for next Monday at 2pm. I was reading the paper in the Cafe as I would never buy the Tele and I forgot where the Service is taking place, Northern Suburbs or the other one close by.

According to Daily Telegraphā€™s Tributes website, the service will be held at Magnolia Chapel in Macquarie Park Crematorium next Monday at 2pm.
