I wonder if this ends the ties with the churches too? I am not sure how true it was they had to keep 2CH alive for a certain period of time to make sure the council of churches are happy?

May have been a contract thing, yes.
@foxyrover it will interesting to see if the “religious messages” or “Christian thoughts” stop on SEN 1170 and the Sunday night show (as it had a sports twist) with music.
Currently 2CH are taking SMSs and reading them out as farewells. They are playing the 70s lunchbreak.

I’m surprised it stayed around as long as it did. But it’s certainly a pity to have 2CH and 4KQ - two legendary stations - both close down in a short space of time.
