Seems to be a lot more empty seats at Carrara Stadium for the closing ceremony. The organisers should have sold the tickets on a discount to get more people in.
This intro could be prerecorded⦠so could explain empty seats.
Well, it says live
According to the Courier Mail, Seven have dropped the ball and have a delayed telecast of the closing ceremony. Footage from the stadium has been leaked.
They didnāt drop the ball. They planned intentionally planned to screen it after MKR. Weāve known that for weeks.
The ABC and BBC are only starting coverage now, so I donāt think itās been delayed (or if it is, maybe only the opening segments)
Apparently that was a dress rehearsal according to this:
God. This is bad. Hopefully it improves
Apparently there are athletes already heading back to the athletes villageā¦
I can understand why they donāt want their logo on this.
This is a disaster of a closing ceremony omg
Itās an Australian Idol reunion show.
What Seven have done is show the ceremony live to Eastern States and delayed elsewhere (30 min SA and 2 hours WA). However, because they chose to show MKR from 7pm they missed the start of the ceremony (7.30pm start time). Fans were disappointed to miss elements including the athletes entering the stadium particularly with Paralympic gold-medalist Kurt Fearnley as the flag bearer. Courier Mail live blog put it: "Channel 7 has finally cut over to the closing ceremony so letās all sit back and joy the interviews with athletes that were probably filmed 30 minutes ago "
Someone can correct me if Iām wrong but I donāt think the actual world feed broadcast began until just before 8:30pm eastern.
Just checked the BBCās coverage and apart from a report inside the stadium - they didnāt begin showing things happening around the stadium until roughly the same time Seven did (with the aerial shots before the introduction with the boy)
Maybe there was no coverage of the athletes in any form? May have happened before the show started?
The closing ceremony is just as bad as the opening. Someone got paid too much!
So Jo Griggs has just posted this photo on twitter. At the bottom you can see her phone in shot. She has a message from Nick Barrow (not sure of his role for these games but he was the EP for 7 in Rio). The message says āSpartan producers moved to this when it got cannedā. Could he be talking about how bad the Closing Ceremoney is?
What highlights?
By the looks of things, donāt expect much better from Birmingham.
