Another channel change alert
Why not continue the games on the main channel and put the news on 7mate then these channel change alerts every half hour wouldnât be needed.
The coverage is a shambles. All over the shop. Pathetic pre recorded packages and of course limited actual live sport being shown.
We all know thatâs never going to happen. The news always goes on the main channel.
The âsome womanâ is former cycling champion Kate Bates.
She isnât a caller. Having two special comments people isnât really good enough. They need a caller for cycling.
Clearly you werenât watching much during the day. There were plenty of live events being shown, across both 7 and 7Two.
The 7 Commonwealth Games app on Fetch is stuffed. The broadcast channels stream fine, but when you select one of the games channels it plays one preroll advertisement then tries to play another ad which fails and you get kicked out of that channel. I tried them all and the same thing happened. The 7Plus app on Fetch however is all good with no preroll ads on the games channels and they stream fine.
Ahhh I work like most of the adult population.
I reckon Giaan Rooney lifts the swimming coverage substantially, as well as Thorpey.
Mike McCaan and Nicole Livingstone calling the swimming on the world feed.
âLive & Freeâ disappeared for about 5min.
Which shows that part of the Seven Sport Gold Coast 2018 watermark is being controlled from the production (as with the Aus Open and Winter Olympics), so when replays are broadcast for a prolonged period, they can air âSportâ.
Though I think this was just either an error or they couldnât find the âSportâ one, oops.

Giann is brilliant in the commentary box. She provides excellent insight.
Seven having some minor gremlins tonight.
Hamishâs mic failed, hearing him distorted via studio mic at one stage.
A camera went blurry and tilted at this same moment at the swimming.
Also at this same moment Basilâs audio from swimming went completely silent for some seconds.
Some graphics keep flickering/disappearing.
And the âLive & Freeâ has disappeared again.
â
If it hasnât been mentioned:
Jim Wilson and now Mel McLaughlin (who will take over host position later) doing News Updates.
The Live & Free watermark disappears whenever an event is shown on delay. It happens tonight on both main channel and 7TWO.
Live action has now finished for the day at 10:25 pm AEST and Hamish has crossed to Mel McLaughlin and Jason Richardson at The Star hotel for highlights of Day 1 and a preview of Day 2.
Edit: The coverage ended at 2:47 am AEST the next morning.
I find it bizarre that Seven would just air a highlights show for the remainder of ratings share?
Getting back to what @JBar mentioned about odd programming choices for late night, even though it counts.
Yet live sport (menâs hockey) still on 7Two.
â
Also raises another relevant point:
Mel McLaughlin, one of their well known on-air talent, who is listed everywhere as a âhostâ. When clearly sheâs actually just there to say some âstuffâ every now and again, for 90min, from 10:30pm each night with Jason Richardson?
