Probably it is seven and in their defence they pay such big money for the rights that they have to get something out of it.
The GC2018 website has it listed for 7:30pm but they listed the Opening Ceremony as being from 7pm - 10:15pm so Iâm guessing 7:30pm might be when the pre-ceremony stuff happens before the ceremony officially begins at 8:30pm

Seven have Scott McGory and some woman. Not a traditional play by play caller. I donât like it.

Even though GC viewers can continue to watch the Games on 7HD LCN 70, 7Mate Brisbane is also switching to a Comm Games simulcast presumably for those without access to a HD TV.
7Mate in the rest of Queensland however continues with normal program until the 6pm switch over seen elsewhere.

Just in case viewers miss the multiple reminders from the host / on screen graphic
As during Winter Olympics at least, it was hit and miss, sometimes market dependent I noticed.
Sometimes the billboard would air, other times itâd suddenly just jump into the next lined-up program. My point being, if the latter, itâs not very good. Social media had some complaining about this then (i.e.) âHey 7mate, whereâd the Olympics just go, why am I getting Ice Road Truckers!?â
Nine report quoted odd of the next mistake at the games (after the first night was plagued by transport chaos).
I saw the end of the menâs triathlon today and for the last 10 minutes or so there were no graphics to indicate who the competitors were; the only thing showing was time and when the winner crossed that disappeared and there was no on-screen info at all including no leader board; looked to me as if the scoring graphics had crashed.
