I wonder if it’s not a new approach at Seven, but rather just for the Comm Games?
In that the watermark has “Gold Coast 2018” and makes it A) obvious it’s sport B) what we’re watching.
Hence adding “Sport” might have been seen as over-the-top / unnecessary?
That’s why I was wondering if other Seven telecasts (such as last Sunday’s WB vs. WCE AFL game, which was delayed in Perth) still used “Sport” or not?
When i watched the Western Bulldogs v West Coast game, it was delayed in perth. 7 Perth decided to get rid of the sport bug from the watermark.
I noticed that 7Two don’t do a highlights package of their coverage, following day’s play. Yet 7 does for a 3 hour highlight package
That’s very sad. 
Since the 2012 Seven Sport graphics ‘re-launch’, I always thought it was a “double”.
Meaning watermarks that are coloured and in the top right usually always indicate a ‘sport’ broadcast anyway (i.e.) Nine and Ten.
Yet Seven still added “Sport” for delayed / replays. So this looks better IMO 
(Before 2012, it was of course translucent).
The watermark on live stream is different from the TV broadcast. Notice the full name XXI Commonwealth Games in tiny letters below 2018?
Wow, never noticed that before. Seems a bit weird to have that on the stream but nowhere to be seen on the linear channels.
When is Seven’s main channel going to show some actual live sport instead of rehashing yesterday? There’s plenty going on.
Looks eerily similar to Seven’s virtual set they used for their Rio 2016 Olympics coverage!!
It’s actually the new set they launched this year a 17 meter video wall.
I’m not saying it is Seven’s set but it looks like TVNZ got some inspiration from it when Seven were using it.
Speaking of TVNZ, curious to know what members in NZ think of their coverage? Been reading a lot of negative things about it, particularly regarding the amount of ads they’re showing
Shannon Byrne from ABC Grandstand shared these behind the scenes pictures.
Some points:
•Johanna Griggs proving why she should return to prime-time host duties. So natural, experienced and just good. Hamish is too, but he lacks the charisma and jolly attitude of Griggsy, we know Seven pander to him because Gil is the AFL CEO and Hamish will be Bruce’s replacement one day.
•Those ‘news updates’ are weak as piss. Laughable. IMO pointless. Just air local 7News updates during ads and talk Comm Games then (which they’re doing anyway).
Jim Wilson was cringeworthy in his cross before, salivating over his own networks various sport over the weekend, with Griggsy giggling like a little school girl with him.
And what’s that background? One of Seven’s endless array of control rooms? All the screens look so fake, like pre-recorded loops with Mel McLaughlin and Hamish talking to themselves?
There’s no long shots of the studio/set. It’s just a screen with a close up. This isn’t really an immersive experience. Yet again they’ve failed.
