Todd Woodbridge hosting the morning session
I check the News Corp papers this morning and all the images from the opening ceremony were taken by Getty Images, AAP or Associated Press.
What was with all the lip syncing during the Opening Ceremony? It was obvious that neither Christine Anu or Ricki Lee were singing live. I’m not so sure about Delta either although if she was it wasn’t as obvious.
Is the commentary the world feed or sevens own commentary?
They were on the BBC coverage earlier without the 7 flags on their microphones.
They talked about crossing to Woodbridge so 7 you’d think.
NEP is the host broadcaster, who then shoots it to Seven and I think that then becomes the world feed.
AFAIK, TVNZ have their own hosts for the games…
No NEP would be providing footage as well a world feed of English commentary. Seven can take that or put their own commentators over it.
Eg. Bruce will do athletics for seven and Peter Donegan will do it for the world feed.
On the premium app the women’s triathlon (about an hour) had two 1-minute ad breaks. I was hoping for no breaks except during breaks in the action in whatever sport, so that was a little disappointing. They at least picked reasonable places to put them.
I had an idea it would be Todd getting the day started based on the order in which the hosts are listed in the description of the coverage in the program guide. Going by this logic, I expect to see Jim Wilson take over somewhere around 12:00 to 1:00 AEST and then Johanna Griggs to take over from Jim around 3:00 to 4:00 AEST. Hamish is likely to be seen in prime time from 7:00 AEST after the news in NSW/VIC/QLD and Mel will have the late night spot from after about 9:00 I would think.
Edit: So far I’m right. Jim Wilson has indeed taken over just before 1:00 AEST.
And now at around 3:40 AEST Johanna Griggs has taken over from Jim as I predicted.
For some sports, Seven have their own commentary (eg; they’ve used their own commentators for the triathlon and swimming this morning). All other sports are taking the world feed (eg; 7Two used it for their lawn bowls coverage)
The Weightlifting world feed male commentator sounds like one of Sky NZ’s rugby league commentators.
Anybody know who’s hosting 7Two morning (usually go longer than main channel hosts, so probably until mid-afternoon)?
It was reported last week that Sally Pearson had aggravated an Achilles injury, and yesterday she couldn’t run with the baton. She has now pulled out of the games. It is being asked today if Pearson was ever a chance of competing and if she has just been used as a marketing ploy. Peter Beattie says no. Of course he would.
I’m a little bit confused. How come Seven have in their program schedule that the Closing Ceremony coverage starts at 8:30 on Sunday 15 April when I thought I saw that the ceremony starts at 7:30? Are Seven forcing us to watch it on delay because they insist on showing MKR beforehand? This is very, very poor form if this is true…
