It’s so ugly

How often were Pat & Sharyn actually shown? Every time I checked in with the coverage, I only saw the pictures of the relay and I wanted to see what the set looked like that they were using…

Not seen today but shown yesterday.

Wasn’t any set shown - they were sitting at the news desk.

Why is it $20 to watch in HD on the app :disappointed:

Pat and Sharyn continuing to co-anchor over the weekend.

It’s my understanding that Pat and Sharyn will be hosting all ‘Countdown To The Commonwealth Games’ Queens Baton Relay coverage in Queensland until Wednesday, the start of the games. This is according to the online guides.

Presumably there’ll now be no (or bare minimum) coverage of the Commonwealth Games in Nine’s news bulletins now that they’ve lost their media accreditation? Although I’m sure Seven are delighted because presumably, more viewers may turn to their undoubtedly GC2018-heavy bulletins during the Games.

Aside from that…even taking into consideration the fact they’re starting just after Easter, surely I’m not the only one who feels like there may not be quite the momentum for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games that there probably should be just two days out from the Opening Ceremony? Of course I wasn’t expecting anything near Sydney 2000-levels of excitement, but I thought even the lead-up to Melbourne 2006 had a bit more buzz than the lead-up to GC2018.

#SandpaperGate has probably starved the event of most of its oxygen in the news cycle.

The Cricket Australia scandal has overshadowed the buildup to the Commonwealth Games this year

What was Seven’s coverage like in 2002 and the guide for Nine in 2006

Channel Nine has had its media accreditation for the Commonwealth Games suspended after they played footage of Saturday night’s opening ceremony dress rehearsal on Sunday’s 6pm news.

Ouch.

Someone needs to dip in in some kerosine then light it up.

Interesting adaption of the news graphics. They essentially have stretched the blue lower third, to a full bar width in light blue when it’s one “Title” and then usual super with just the blue in light blue for full super use. Seems a bit odd considering the background is light blue also
