Sure, keep the ads in the streams of the free-to-air channels, but the other premium streams should be ad free, I think.

9 cameraman and reporter crashed the final stages of the relay today to talk to the Campbell sisters. They were pushed out of the way of the official cameras, as they should be.

In Qld at least yes… I’m in Brissie and lots of people I know are going to The Games and went to see the baton.
I was in wide bay this week and everyone was talking about it and watching the baton coverage.

I think that Channel 7’s Coverage will be much bigger than glasgow 2014. I’m fed up with 10’s coverage of Glasgow 2014 Games. Firstly, delayed Opening ceremony telecast in WA by 2-hours with the Ten Live Watermark being placed on the top right hand side of the screen. Coverage started at 5:30am (WA Time) while rest of states getting live coverage. Channel 10 Perth was Terribly scheduled with these crappy home shopping shows. I don’t give a Shit about the boring shopping stuff in early morning. There needs to be enough space to cater during The 7am-8:30am period (Perth time).
Secondly, There was limited amount of live action on One during the midnight. Why they have movies and repeats during the overnight when games are on?
Third, Worst scenario was WA losing 2 hours of the coverage. Formula 1 live on One. Masterchef Finale On Ten.
Fourth, How many times do we have to put up with replays of swimming events?

On the other hand, I’m also in Brissie and no one I know is going and I actively avoided the area of the baton relay.

Yes there are many people that share that opinion. I personally could do without it and can’t wait until it’s over. The baton relay over the long werkend was a pain.
What are we expecting in terms of 7’s set/presentation for the games? A good quality, expensive looking set, something cheap like their Winter Olympics set or no set with just the beach as the background?
If there’s Gold Gold Gold for Australia, then there will be endless replays.

Even those of us going in with low expectations will probably be disappointed given Seven’s recent record with these sorts of major events.

Fairfax and News Corp have not obtained media accreditation to cover the Commonwealth Games, to protest at the unfair conditions imposed by Seven regarding the use of video clips and photos from live events on websites and social media. Thus they will have to rely on photos taken by the likes of Getty Images and AAP.
It looks like the only Australian paper to have full access to cover the Commonwealth Games will be The West Australian which is owned by Seven West Media.

News and Fairfax have majority ownership of AAP, so they are in effect relying on their joint venture to supply them if they use AAP stories and photos. Though both have said they will cover the games under the fair dealing provisions of the Copyright Act which would entitle them to use official sources.
