Quick turnaround for Wendy. Hosted Midday today Wed 14 July. Stumbled a bit on the opening as she went to say ‘Good evening’ - I guess not used to anchoring daytime news programmes.
Indira Stewart hosted Monday & Tuesday. Chris Chang probably getting ready to fly to Tokyo. I suspect he will be on the Air New Zealand flight leaving Auckland tomorrow morning (which only operates once a week).

Not sure, but she was on today again as well.
Melissa Stokes presented sport at 6pm tonight. I think Sav was supposed to read live from Hamilton but something fell through.

Disappointing that 1 News Tonight will be off-air during the Olympics. TVNZ seem to be quite happy to throw Tonight under the bus whenever they have an excuse to…

I mean, there’s always the 6pm news?
Damned if they do, damned if they don’t with this one. Olympics are happening in prime time zone - I suspect they wouldn’t win too many fans by pulling away from major events for late news .

They always have the option to put it on TVNZ2, right? Not that they would, but if they still wanted to air news and whatever Olympics coverage is on.

It does come once every 4/5 years, so two weeks without Tonight isn’t bad. Switch to Newshub Late if ya want your late news fix.

Would be cool to utilise TV2 for extra news bulletins but I doubt TVNZ will have resources/staffing to produce late bulletins as they will probably be working on Olympics coverage instead.

1 News at Midday was hosted by Melissa Stokes today. Indira Stewart anchored Monday & Tuesday. Perhaps they will utilise Jenny Suo next week when Tonight is off air.
Haydyn Jones and Wendy Petrie are filling in on Seven Sharp this week. (Not that I watch that show…
