Yet is it reasonable to expect parents to helicopter their children 24/7, particularly once they become teenagers and where many families have 2-3 jobs between them to meet ever increasing cost of living.
How good is the OG Crew?
Well, Iāve been working hard for some time to build up my YouTube channel dedicated to preserving regional TV ads. Bad news, YouTube has cracked down on my Regional Media Archive YT channel, which means no more regional TV ad preservation on YT.
Luckily though I have backups for all my videos, which means I will be moving the entire archive to Odysee, though it may mean now having to track down recording dates or simply labelling them as recorded off āinsert channel and region hereā during āinsert month and year hereā. This may be disappointing new to those who follow the channel but YouTube simply does not care about media archivists and small content creators.
My Interesting Things YT channel got this too. I appealed this decision and I too was unsuccessful. Luckily my Regional Media Archive and Radio_TVGuy channels were still accessible on my end as they were brand accounts, had to find a workaround though.
In other news, content from the Regional Media Archive is now being re-uploaded to Odysee. Unlike my Radio_TVGuy Odysee channel, this one is dedicated to preserving regional TV ads through compilations.

The Radio_TVGuy Odysee channel is where Iāll continue to upload content relating to other sectors of the media, i.e news content, radio content and content I wish to share here on MediaSpy.

YouTube is a complete joke. Media archivists and enthusiasts like us should be able to have content up for everyone to enjoy and talk about. Unfortunately YouTube is more about MrBeast and Cocomelon than that of us media enthusiasts. I uploaded a video on a 9News report about the 1964 VFL Grand Final broadcast (2nd half) being found, and guess how much attention that got? 3K views and 6 comments, all of those appreciating the find and discussing about the broadcast. My upload (recording) of the Clive Palmer ad from during the AO tennis in January of this year racked up over 1K views and got 3 comments disliking Palmerās campaign lol.
I have created another channel on a seperate account but will only use it to leave comments from now on. Also has a different name just like @TV.Cynicās new channel. There will unfortunately be a few videos Iāve posted in various threads here that will now be broken as a result of the channel terminations.
To all media archivists and enthusiasts alike reading this, please start uploading your content to Odysee ASAP in case YT targets your channel next. Me and @TV.Cynic have gone through it all, and now we canāt have more archivists banished to time all because of YouTubeās crappy decisions. Once you start on Odysee youāll never look back. Itās also a good platform to either migrate your content to or sync your YouTube channel and content.
Again, Iām still uploading content, just now on Odysee thatās all.
YouTube is not a place for preservation and never was!
Everything is re-processed to low quality for easy streaming, your original upload is not kept.
Nope, YouTube has been blocking Odysee from attempting to sync YouTube channels since last year. YouTube see Odysee as a serious threat.
Only some Odysee channels have sync now and that is only because one of the developers has tried workarounds but canāt do it at scale because of the way YouTube is detecting usage.
Upload direct to Odysee, leave YouTube behind.
British comedian Amelia Dimoldenberg, host of YouTube interview series Chicken Shop Date, features on the cover of Sunday Life magazine inside The Sun-Herald and Sunday Age today.
You include YouTube in the ban, you risk the possibility of @Leo_Puglisi6, @austip and Co having to fire his under-16 reporters from 6 News to replace them with new reporters who are at least 16 years of age or older. Ridiculous.
No one here wants 6 News to suddenly collapse to a point where it has to shut down because of age restrictions. Like if access on other platforms to 6 News is banned, then at least YouTube would be their last resort, at least for those who donāt use a VPN. But if the Government does include YouTube in the under-16 Social Media ban (and YouTube has argued multiple times that it isnāt a social media platform, itās a video streaming platform), then I may need to kindly suggest to @Leo_Puglisi6 to please open up an Odysee account at odysee, com (change comma to a full stop) and people under 16 years of age can go and follow 6 News there.
Otherwise for the experienced enough geek under 16 theyāll just bypass the Governmentās restrictions by connecting to the USA or Japan who donāt have such age restrictions.
This is getting beyond a joke. How about parents actually control their kids and what they do online. Not rely on flawed age verification techniques.

Agree⦠just tunnel out of the nanny state known as Australia. @Leo_Puglisi6 I enjoy Six news. And this risks you company/channel. Your generation needs to stand up against Ms Karen eSafety commissioner who somehow got tto talk to the manager who gave her stupid powers!
Someone needs to knock this dumbass down a notch
Again, bans wonāt work.
Education and parents actually doing some parenting is the answer.
Schools are failing us. Teachers overpaid and underworked too many holidays, and they still complain! Teach the kids!
They are failing us, but not for the reason you thinking.
The powerful regulator lobbying Labor to ban kids from YouTube has used the same platform to publish a series of childrenās cartoons on internet safety.
eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant was last week accused of misleading Australians after her crusade to have children banned from YouTube was not supported in her own research.
Now it can be revealed that even Ms Inman Grantās office used YouTube to educate children as part of her own social media publishing strategy.
eSafety, which costs taxpayers $51.1 million a year to run with 160 staff, has a lively YouTube page featuring videos with cartoon animals and kid-friendly animations to educate children.
In late 2022, while Ms Inman Grant was in charge of the body, a series of videos called āeSafety Mighty Heroesā including characters such as Dusty the frilled neck lizard, River the sugar glider, Billie the bilby, and Wanda the echidna was released on the same day - content clearly published with the intent to educate children.
Esafety Karen has been called out as Hypocrite after using platform herself⦠thats how I read it. She needs to be sacked as soon as possible before she does any more damage to internet freedom.
eSafety is a croc of s***
