My apologies

It’s great that I found this thread. Here is my idea for a dream channel.

Plus would be a New Zealand free-to-air channel located on Freeview channel 19 (currently between Duke Plus 1 and TVSN) and Sky channel 26 (currently between The Shopping Network and Sky Movies Premiere). It would operate 7 days a week, 365 days a year and would contain no infomercials as it would be privately funded. Without further ado, here is a schedule for the first few months on air.

Monday-Friday
5:30am: Plus Early News
6am: Wakey-Wakey! (Preschool programming, mainly stuff from Disney and Nickelodeon but also reruns of Bumble and the Moe Show)
9am: GMTV (Lifestyle/news programme)
11am: Rachael Ray
12pm: Plus Midday News
1pm: TV Movie (something like Three currently does)
3pm: Toonattk PM (Weekday version of children’s block, stuff from CN, Nick and Disney)
5pm: ALF
5:30pm: Neighbours
6pm: Home and Away
6:30pm: Plus News at 6:30
7pm: Evening programmes
Monday - Reality shows (Name that Tune, Top Chef, Supermarket Sweep)
Tuesday - Comedy night (The Office, Superstore, How I Met Your Mother)
Wednesday - Sci-Fi night (Buffy, Star Trek, Black Mirror)
Thursday - Drama/Documentaries (Downton Abbey, The Crown, How It’s Made, The Right Stuff)
Friday - Movie night (Family movie followed by blockbuster, limited commercials)
11pm - The Late Late Show with James Corden
12am - Plus Nightscreen (Promos and information, with music from More FM)

Saturday/Sunday:
5:30am: Plus Early News
6am: Wakey Wakey!
7am: Toonattk (Children’s programmes, weekend version of Toonattk PM, same programming sources)
12pm: Plus Midday News
12:30pm Beverly Hills 90210
1:30pm: Classic programmes (e.g The Lone Ranger, Hogan’s Heroes, The Three Stooges)
5pm: Saturday - Lego Masters UK (since Three doesn’t air it)/Sunday - Plus Top 10 (Top of the Pops style show sponsored by The Edge)
6pm: The Simpsons
6:30pm: Plus News at 6:30
7pm: Saturday - Animation Domination (animated shows e.g Family Guy, Futurama, The Great North, Bless the Harts)/Sunday - The Wonderful World of Disney (Disney movies/sneak peeks/specials).
10pm (Sunday only): MadTV
11pm: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
12am: Plus Nightscreen

This is only an idea but I’d appreciate honest feedback on it!

Your dream television network seems to be a bit different from my own dream network.

Precisely, what is GMTV (which is similar in format to my own magazine-style morning show called “The Morning Break”)? On The Morning Break, though, it is based in Christchurch (at Whitebait’s studios - the home of What Now, Brain Busters and so much more) and it combines a mix of lifestyle segments, celebrity interviews, human interest stories, entertainment news, live music and advertorials.

Who will be anchoring Plus’s news bulletins (at 5.30am, 12pm and 6.30pm)?

Wakey! Wakey! and Toonatik were the names of children’s strands seen on GMTV throughout Britain. Wakey! Wakey! was aimed at younger children (i.e. preschoolers) while Toonatik featured games, competitions and studio guests combined with the American imported cartoons to cater for older children.

“Plus Top 10” is like a music chart show similar to my own music chart show called “Countdown”. On Countdown, however, it counts down the week’s top 40 singles from the Official New Zealand Music Chart (as the title suggests), combined with interviews, music news, the top 10 albums and ‘the hottest new hits’.

Beverly Hills 90210 is, in fact, an hour-long drama series (not a half hour series).

“Plus Nightscreen” is similar to that of ITV Nightscreen in Britain, with the inclusion of the More FM simulcast (i.e. a direct feed of More FM’s Auckland frequency - 91.8FM).

You should start your own topic under “Mock Designs”, Liam! Keep writing and I’ll look forward to seeing more of your posts in regard to your dream television network… sometime in the future.

From your pal, Patrick Te Pou (Paddy).

Thanks Paddy!

Exactly, kinda like what Breakfast does but in a smaller two-hour format.

I don’t have any ideas of anchors yet, sadly.

That’s why I chose those names. To both tie it into “my” GMTV and pay homage to Britan’s GMTV.

Woops, my bad. It’s been amended now.

Thanks again for the feedback though!

What would this entail?

Surely you don’t closedown?

@foxyrover @Super_SC created 9Rewind as a channel running 18 hours a day. Closedown at midnight.

Thanks, @AK_NEWS! I created PTV Network New Zealand (Patrick Te Pou Enterprises Ltd) as my dream television network, and my pal @LiamP created Plus (Plus Television New Zealand Ltd) as a competitor to PTV Network. My network has 7 channels while Plus has only one channel.

Both networks are privately owned and operated, and funded by advertising. What do you think of that?
