So Ten have replaced TVSN, which it has lost to Seven, on channel 16 with a second bespoke home shopping channel following in gecko’s footsteps. Info from Freeview:
Also on SCA Ten on LCN 58
I’m sure a bunch of channels have this problem - but what’s the point of a QR code on screen if the low bitrate of the channel, combined with the small size, means it doesn’t work? I couldn’t get my phone to read the one on screen at the moment.
In general - I wonder why it popped up like the channel has always existed - has this been streaming somewhere until now?
Horrible ungoogle-able name and not having a website online - assuming that is their website and not a weird usage of a dot in the brand for fun - kinda like the “booking.yeah” slogan which isn’t actually a url. I suppose fun we have looped from the “TV4ME” to “you tv” on the ad channels over the last decade or so.
Anyway, it’s good to see Ten aiding in getting more local content on air.
Is gecko still on 57 as well?
Are there any people out there that watch the shopping channels on FTA? Surely some do, or else most networks wouldn’t have one. I’d suppose it’s more about the potential money that they could make.
Surprised nobody picked up on this earlier, given the info was on Freeview for the last week or so.

Who owns this new shopping channel?
It’s called you.tv but doesn’t own the URL, that’s not insanely dumb at all…
They don’t have to own the domain if they’re not using a website, all the individual retailers and companies would have their own that they would direct back to?
Plus the cost is probably quite prohibitive given the name.
In my opinion, shopping channels have ruined Australian TV and use up bitrates which could be used for putting I don’t know, NICKELODEON IN WIN AREAS.
If anything they’re keeping the networks around slightly longer and I don’t know, HELPING KEEP THE LIGHTS ON.
Don’t call the channel a domain name then? It’s incredibly stupid.
Not using a website, in 2024? It doesn’t even have to be a complex website it could literally just be a placeholder with the info they’ve published on the freeview site.
so pick a better name. Just seems pointless to name a business name with a literal URL but not actually have that URL.
Really?
Not a big issue, Gecko doesn’t have a registered domain or website either and is still around.
As I said, the call to action for the channels is the partner or businesses website.
Also, this is 10. Adjust your expectations
The channel name is literally a website address. Thats the difference. Christ.
Gecko is not branded gecko.tv or gecko.com or whatever. Its brand name is not a URL or pseudo-URL.
I agree, it’s not a big issue but it just seems a very basic marketing fail for a new venture trying to break into a crowded market
I get it, I just don’t think it’s a big deal and next to nobody will be watching / make that connection.
Anyway, fixed
I thought gecko tv did have a website when they first started?
