Was thinking the same.
Sounds like the type of rubbish he enjoyed whipping up.
I suspect the bar for the various UK game shows to be pre-empted either partly or fully for extended updates, live coverage of events or rolling coverage will be lower than usual because the infrastructure to do that will effectively be on standby throughout the afternoon.
I’m not sure this was plan A.
I wonder if somethings happened where the original concept fell through/ Alex wasn’t a strong enough main host/ couldn’t get a format right and they’ve gone for this instead.
Just don’t understand the whole Alex doing testing and being told 7 wanted to launch this properly and not do a 10News+. What took so long to nail? Doesn’t seem like hard work to me.
Good luck to them though.
What the hell happened since this?
I’m going to be the afternoon host on Channel 7. So we’re going to be taking you through the afternoon. We’re going to have a show at 3 o’clock.
-Alex told Christian O’Connell on September 10
“If a story breaks X minutes before a new bulletin, the program will not be interrupted for it.”
Who knows how many X is.
All that’s missing are some horoscopes and a comedian to present some funny comments at 5 minutes before the hour.
Imagine this will also potentially same some money if there are no locally presented updates during the 2 hours.
Perhaps this 3pm show will start in the new year? It might be that they try various gameshows out in the run up to Xmas then keep the ones that rate best alongside this 3pm show. If that’s still happening, of course.
Yes I understand it stays the same… but I imagine if Alex is around… it’s feasible he’ll present at 4pm in Melb. Just as he could present News at Noon.
Otherwise he’s essentially coming in to present afternoon updates.
Just flood the market with game shows and watch the audience depart.
Isn’t he doing breakfast radio as well? Be a long day for him if so. Maybe Tarsh will go once her contract ends and they’ll give Alex the news at noon.
As a fill-in for either slot’s presenters, sure. It’s a no-brainer.
Long-term replacement? I wouldn’t jump the gun to call that.
Judging by the name I thought this was entirely an interactive cash-game show for a second
I think it is quite a good promo.
Really? It’s totally confusing. Can’t get my head around the messaging or what the format schedule is
We don’t have a “Shit Ideas” sub forum, so here is probably safe
Get on that. ![]()
You should be able to win things by watching
Sounds like something Milhouse said on the Simpsons once…
Could we see a revival of Blankety Blanks in Australia in the afternoon?
Now that would be an idea. Maybe at 5pm?
This new show sounds like it’s ratings will be unstoppable
Yeah, if they get the right boring equipment, they can drill through the floor and go below 0. ![]()
How drunk were the Seven execs who thought of this? Or high? Or both?
Just saw the promo for the first time, so weird. Genuinely thought at first that Seven had changed plans and that Alex was hosting a new game show.
Really? It’s totally confusing.
News. Game show. News. Gameshow. News. Game show. News. Game show. If it’s anything, I thought it was quite good at telling you what was on when. Usually the timeslot gets lost in promos. I thought this laid out the schedule quite clearly.
I do love though that the name was clearly a working title as a play on words about the ratings. Very strange they went with it.

From the network that brought you horoscopes and comedy at 6.57pm in their main news bulletins. ![]()

If you read the press release, 75 media spit posts then see the promo maybe you can understand
But what they are dishing up is just so strange and odd, I doubt anyone can work it out from the promo
My take is most people think it’s a new game show called winning Arvo hosted by alex.
What a mess

I agree. I don’t like how they’re packaging news and game shows together. Feels a bit wrong, somehow. But I guess 7 are at that point where they’ll try anything.

You’d think they’d learn. Clearly they haven’t.
I can’t remember every single Simpsons reference…

I thought that until I saw the promo.
