Nine (WIN)

But what happens if I rescan my device before the 1st of September?

At least they’re telling people to rescan this time around. Big mistake saying that there was no need to last year.

“The WIN Network is Australia’s largest regional network and follow an accepted channel numbering practice, which includes placing a station’s HD service on Channels 20, 30, 50 and 80”.

WIN seems to have conveniently forgotten that it’s own metro network partner doesn’t follow this practice

On Foxtel, Channel 9 is on channel 100. Why??!?!?!!

I’m guessing because Nine paid a lot of money to get that channel position back when Foxtel Digital started in 2004.

I think the poster means, why not have it on LCN 9…

Here are two of the ‘Entertaining Australia’ promos that are airing on the Northern NSW Ten markets before the switch over:

They seem to just be slight alterations of the existing promo’s that have already run in WIN markets:

Graphics man: “I’ve added more dots to the satellite shot for NNSW, but I can’t remove Adelaide and Perth. Should I just make a whole new shot?”
Supervisor: “I’m sure nobody will notice…”

Well, Mr. Graphics Supervisor, we did! :joy:

Did we get a sneak peek at the new watermark at the end of those promos? :stuck_out_tongue: that win map is huge!

I’m going to be looking at the ratings for Northern NSW very closely when this change happens next month. I’m interested to see how much of a turn off that WIN branding really is.

Judging by the ratings that has just been released on the RegionalTAM website, its main channel is already slipping into single figures & is beaten by the ABC in both main channel & network shares, even before the rebranding to WIN occurs. I can only imagine it would probably get even worse figures from September 1 onwards, especially considering that they won’t have full local news bulletins.

WIN’s main channel has also slipped to single figures in Regional QLD in the week of 6-12 August.

If WIN are smart, they will at the very least produce their own noodle updates for NNSW. Better than no local news at all.

Perhaps it will also encourage them to produce noodle updates for areas with no local WIN news (Griffith, Mildura, SA, WA, Mackay).

They’ll have to - they have local content obligations that they will have to meet, and Southern Cross will only produce them from WIN for so long.

8 million people who can see Bruce’s shitstains…

It will be interesting to compare September-onwards with the same periods last year (to account for seasonal variations).

250E?

That’s where they’ve always been?

They just used 252 for a lot of purposes right?
