WIN News

Ten did a good sign off tonight… “For regional viewers stay tuned for your WIN news bulletin and for everyone else family feud is up next”. Was much better.

No headlines and just a generic win news title card here in Canberra. Very odd

Actually, it doesn’t look like a Canberra bulletin at all.

same in Victoria I it is a statewide bulletin too

Same in the Riverina, interestingly a mixture of Canberra, Central West, Riverina and Illawarra stories and sport was totally Illawarra.

And the weather was Illawarra/Canberra focused. Going to be some unhappy people tonight…

I really hope that tonight’s combined Southern NSW/ACT and Victorian WIN News bulletins were only produced because of technical difficulties, rather than a trial for something more permanent…

Lachlan/Georgina have used that line since the switch, surprised to hear it wasn’t implemented on all bulletins where WIN News follows.

Yeah they don’t use that line in Victoria.

they wouldn’t do it on Ten News in Sydney because Northern NSW still has Southern Cross Ten.

But even then, some parts of regional QLD don’t get WIN News eg. Mackay and outback QLD eg. Mt Isa, Longreach, Roma etc (as I think CDT take Ten News Brisbane on their North feed?).

WIN News Illawarra and Nine News Sydney both led with the same main news tonight - a crash today on the M1 in Wollongong.

and?

Back to the Riverina news tonight, missed the start to see if anything was said about last night but I’ll assume it was a technical issue.

The Facebook page for WIN News Central West at least replied to a couple of the posts, claiming it was indeed a “technical issue” forcing them to do a statewide bulletin in NSW. (I guess issues with the pre-records?)

Obviously same happened in VIC; not sure whether QLD ran local or not due to lack of page complaints

5 sec promo

Not bad, but change that red strap to orange or yellow already.

In the video it seems to be similar to the old TEN News’ “First At Five” ribbon - more of a red and orange gradient rather than outright red

EDIT I just saw it on the telly, and it seems darker that what I referenced

According to an article in today’s Canberra Times, WIN News didn’t make the Top 100 of the most watched programs in Canberra so far this year, even before the affiliation & timeslot change occurred. By comparison, ABC News was (& most likely still is) the most popular local TV news service in the nation’s capital, which up until June 30, was competing head-to-head to WIN News.

Not a surprise regarding canberra… Considering the demographics and education levels of its residence it’s not surprise ABC is number 1.
