Just noticed that Ariana Gatti (Nth NSW and the Gold Coast noodle update presenter) is wearing a “WIN” badge. Not sure if any of the other presenters wear the badge while presenting.
All presenters wear the WIN badge on air.
Truly bizarre. Very cult like.
Nine’s banned mappy, so WIN makes them wear a mappy pin. They’ve basically watermarked their on-air talent!
Sorry to drag up an old topic…but what about Angela Ross for Nine News Tasmania…
Ex-ABC Tas Weekends…
Maybe.
Unfortunately I don’t think many presenters would take the job in Hobart, my pick would be:
Weekdays: Louise Houbaer
Weekends: Alexandra Alvaro
I think they are the only two options that are suitable for a poach. Peter Murphy and Kim Millar wouldn’t due to their close ties with SCA and living in Launceston, and Tom Cooper wouldn’t due to likely only getting weekend sport presenter (due to Brent Costelloe most likely getting weekdays). The most likely presenter would be someone from interstate.
Also RE: Your “everything needs to be viewed locally” point from a few weeks ago, it feels a bit unlikely as the two news directors that have been most likely picked live in Melbourne and Brisbane, not Hobart.
7 is free to start local news in any of its markets right now though. They could poach staff from WIN anytime. WIN could then downgrade to noodles and admit defeat.
I think though WIN Tas is a great example of viewer ‘protest’ where the whole network suffers due to being force fed Melbourne news.
I can only presume that 9 won’t allow WIN to broadcast their bulletins at 6, so they have taken control of the forthcoming 9Tas 6pm. WIN did do a 6pm 60 comp in Tas for many years, after all.
If regional viewers want local news, they need to start watching what’s left and turning off networks that don’t provide it. But aggregation showed that just doesn’t happen - viewers go for quality over localism.
What happens if Wollongong and Regional Victoria loses the only news service? What will they watch then?
It seems that Jack Morgan and Danielle Pope has left WIN News Gippsland and WIN News Shepparton respectively. Samantha Hogan has replaced the former while nobody has replaced the latter.
All reporters except Grace Aicken at WIN Bendigo have left and in came new ones. Sam Mills and Inga Nielsen have moved to Nine News Adelaide but unknown for Jack and Danielle.
Do they all have that hard ending?
these supers are getting so old and outdated… plus Im not sure what WIN would do without the convoy. the once mighty well respected WIN is a shadow of itself.
While the current look is around five years old, IMO any change would be a waste of effort. May as well keep it as is until the division either folds or is integrated into Nine News.
If only they put as much effort and resources into real news as they do into this convoy stuff. Looking at their social media pages, you’d be forgiven to think it’s a convoy only bulletin at this time of year.
Monday (28.11.2022) - Friday (2.12.2022): Brent Costelloe is presenting in Tasmania.
From the Wollongong studios still? I understand that a new studio is being built in Hobart? Am I correct or not yet?
New studio in Hobart yes, but we don’t know how exactly it is going to work - whether Nine will be using the WIN facilities or have a separate location for the new bulletin altogether.
I never understood why they insisted on having an out of towner present the news when they could just record the intros in Hobart and pipe them up the line to WIN HQ. Looking forward to the new product next year anyways.
