WIN News

The Tasmanian composite would 6pm-7pm and replace the Melbourne news in full, how it was done under the previous Nine affiliation. From 4pm-6pm the Afternoon News and Hot Seat would air in full, no rearranging the schedule needed.

It won’t happen.

There was no going back once Melbourne news became acceptable and even preferred by a lot of viewers.

And that’s a pity… but the world revolves around money and unfortunately producing these bulletins is leading to a loss. No company will continue on doing something that is loss producing.

Is it likely or unlikely there will be new graphics on WIN News on July 1 or will it take place sometime after?

Very very likely.

Sadly that also rules out a 5.30pm Weekend edition too. Not enough watchers for 3 Weekend News editions.

Samara is a great reporter - love her inflections

Surely we could expect new set backdrops, graphics and music and brand overhaul for WIN News with the new 5.30 slot, new statewide bulletins and Nine affiliation and tighter brand synergy with Nine?

This look is 5+ years without an update no?

WIN News’ current graphics were launched in January 2018, but it’d be fair to say they don’t look that much different to the previous look.

Personally I hope there’ll be a relaunch on Thursday, but realistically am not expecting one!

Historically, WIN has used their graphics packages long after Nine has changed, likely because the don’t have the money to throw around making their own graphics whenever Nine changes. And after the last affiliation change WIN used a mix of new Ten-inspired supers with the entire rest of their Nine 2012-inspired package for another two years after the change. Cool Hand Luke has stayed throughout the Ten affiliation and WIN’s version dates all the way back to 2006 and the dot-less National Nine News days!

But since the WIN brand is disappearing and they’re transitioning to statewide bulletins like NNL are making right now, Nine might want to send them the updated graphics, music and NNL backdrop to give a false sense of continuity “hey you’re watching the exact same thing as before!”, but who knows?

I’ve just realised I’m heading back home for a few days on July 1 so I’ll be able to watch the first WIN bulletin for their new (old) affiliation.
I rather like WIN’s current graphics. They could definitely refresh the supers, but the generic backdrop is rather pleasing to look at. In my opinion, all that needs to be done is to tie in 9News graphics seamlessly, perhaps a few colour tweaks for the current WIN graphics.
One thing they definitely need is a weather graphics refresh.

I think it would be better if WIN News keeps their own style rather than adopt the full 9News look, unless they drop the WIN News branding entirely.

im recording the old one and new to compare if theirs any difference wanna see if they say anything at the end of the last news

This here is the problem with Viz compared to competitors. Artist requires a different licence to Engine, both of which are expensive, and means that they usually have to outsource their graphics packages instead of doing them in-house. We use Ross Xpression at work and we can do everything in the one application with a single licence. Anyway, I’ve gone a little off topic.

There has been no information about the newsreader structure (other than the switch promos), but this would be the most logical newsreader structure:

Illawarra - Bruce Roberts with Amy Duggan
Canberra - Bruce Roberts with Amy Duggan
NSW Edition - Bruce Roberts with Amy Duggan
VIC Edition - Lincoln Humphries with Mel Russell on sport
QLD Edition - Lincoln Humphries with Mel Russell on sport
TAS Edition - Lincoln Humphries with Mel Russell on sport

Don’t know if they will endeavour to get someone to join Bruce to present the sports segment, with this streamlined structure.

The only good thing out of this for WIN News is the reemergence of WIN in Dubbo, Wagga, Griffith and Albury with the NSW edition (Alb might be with the VIC Edition though).

Hopefully this new structure will be able to at least last the next seven years.

Edit: Forgot about Amy!

No.
Illawarra, Canberra, NSW, and VIC - Bruce Roberts
QLD and TAS - Lincoln Humphries

I’ve seen promos with Bruce Roberts, and I’m in Victoria.
That promo is probably only TAS.

Odd to have a 4 and 2 setup. Must be missing something.

Northern NSW/Gold Coast updates? Presumedly they’ll keep the current set up though.

WIN News Tasmania shared the affilliation swap promo to their FB page… apparently we will be getting QTQ News here in Tasmania. Smooth.
