Can’t believe it looks so much like 9 three years on

Tanya Dendrinos was farewelled by Bruce Roberts at the conclusion of the sport segment she presented tonight. She’s leaving WIN after eight years to “chase her dreams abroad”. Chris Polzot is taking her place as full time weather presenter. There’s a farewell message on the WIN News Illawarra Facebook page.

Strange Geoff Phillips wasn’t afforded the same courtesy to farewell viewers following his 30+ years stint with WIN.

…and going by those updated social media profile pics, it seems that Bruce Roberts (thank goodness they’ve still got him, Amy Duggan and Samara Gardner!) is the new regular newsreader of the Illawarra & Canberra editions.

I agree.

You also have to wonder what Nine News Southern NSW/ACT is thinking right now, with the Illawarra & Canberra editions of WIN News arguably having lost two of their best presenters just as we’re (probably) about to see the first major branding relaunch for Nine News’ regional bulletins since their 2017 launch!

Well considering that the metropolitan editions of Nine News (going by the latest promos for Sydney & Melbourne - see the discussion about those in the relevant thread) are expected to recieve new graphics on Sunday night, it’s more than reasonable to assume that on Monday we’ll see new graphical elements used on the regional bulletins produced for SCA Nine.

With the new 9 News Logo revealed, at least WIN and 9 News will have different logos now. Until WIN changes of course

Well now you’re just being silly

Not really. WIN deliberately have kept their theme music from Cool Hand Luke and the graphics as close to Nine News as they possibly could to create confusion in the market when they were forced to change to Ten affiliation. Everyone in the media industry knows it. It’s a running joke.

Yeah it feels a bit wrong watching channel ten content in WIN. Still doesn’t ‘feel’ like channel ten especially not with Headline News and WIN news every day

Quick question: Does the All Australian News still air in markets where the 6pm bulletin was axed?

Yes, it airs in all WIN markets, including ones those that previously or never had a WIN News bulletin.

The promo end tag team is looking even leaner now, with the removal of Tanya Dendrinos following her departure yesterday:

Was Chris Polzot in it before Tanya left, or has he just been added? I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually get down to only one presenter in it! haha

Isn’t it? I made the joke in the Nine News Content and Appearance thread that they changed their logo to try and escape the clutches of WIN.

He was already in it.

An emergency level out of control bush fire south of Canberra Airport and heading towards Oaks Estate yet WIN News ignores it. It is the main news story in the ACT and Queanbeyan right now.

These local news services aren’t a patch on what they were decades ago when it comes to providing information when emergency situations arise.

WIN TV was broadcasting regular fire updates during the disastrous 1968 Illawarra bushfires. The commitment to the community extended to providing information in several languages to the migrant population. What did they do on New Years Eve to keep viewers updated when fires were threatening communities on the south coast? Plenty of coverage in their news bulletins after the fact but I can’t find any evidence they assisted viewers who were facing life and death situations during the latest fires.
