esp when Bruce used to make a big song and dance that he had enough contacts and content to be able to program WIN 24/7 without relying on a metro network.
I reckon that 9 should take over WIN ASAP. WIN doesn’t even try to update their news graphics over a long period of time. Before it was good now WIN has gone stale
When 9 introduced 9Now years ago WIN used to cry and howl loud claiming it wasn’t fair on regional businesses. It would make heaps of nonsensical excuses to justify its position
that’s not entirely unreasonable as people who were in WIN’s licence area were now able to bypass WIN entirely and go straight to 9Now, costing WIN revenue.
Don’t forget you have to somehow cram in the phrase “on Australia’s largest television network”.
I don’t WIN can make claim to that anymore
WIN could have made the streams of the stations available to 9 Now as well as local news instead
All the commercial BVOD services were set up to stream the stations that were owned by the metro networks. There was no consideration or allowance for affiliates to join in or provide content. Quite the opposite.
Do the stations have to be O&O by the metro networks before they can put feeds and local news there? But I understand that not even NBN news have been uploaded to 9Now as yet?
Totally agree its taxpayer’s money that is keeping these service operating, is the 7 programming slide no longer available slide still showing If so there could be some hope of programming returning.
the networks own the streaming platforms e.g. 9Now, so it’s their call what goes on their own platforms. But as others have mentioned, WIN could have set up its own streaming site with its own content (e.g. the massive Crawfords archive) and providing an online outlet for its news bulletins. In the absence of its own streaming platform, WIN could also put its news bulletins online at YouTube, as Seven Tasmania does, to make them available for catch up viewing at any time and which can be monetized as well.
I’d be worrying more about their stale product more than some slightly old graphics
I think prime used to do this too before 7 bought them and put it on 7plus.
Very, very stale!
Wonder how much of a stink WIN will cop after tonight with the AFL being blacked out in affected areas. Seven as they state are still supplying content to WIN. My understanding the transmitters are still operating with a WIN generated graphic blocking Seven programming as these transmitters also carry the WIN10 services. So WIN could not as a public gesture allow Seven content to air for free, even if just the main channel while the affiliation dispute is still being worked out? Of course not.
Resolved quicker than I thought. Wonder who budged?
NOW PUT BACK THE LOCAL ADVERTISING WIN!
Came back as The Chase needs all the ratings it can get to take on Tipping Point
