Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

What about Chris Bath or Melissa Doyle?

Chris Bath is probably too busy with radio and TV news commitments. Melissa Doyle is doing House of Wellness on u.

That’s what I had heard too, when I hinted at a former Nine ex staffer.

Would certainly be interesting if she was interested.

I actually don’t think this would have been a good pick. Far too straight down the line newsy for a quiz show. When you look at Philbin, Tarrant, McGuire, and Clarkson, they are all presenters with a comedic edge (Eddie is debatable).

Again, too newsy. You need to be light in the earlier questions and then pull out the serious when the money gets big.

Someone suggested Marc Fennell, and I think he might be a good choice, if you could pull him away from Mastermind.

Imagining the reaction if Lisa Wilkinson was announced…

Agree with the above, Marc Fennell would be a good option.

I feel like Mel Doyle could do it. God, Sunrise is as much light entertainment as it is news.

I keep thinking of Amanda Keller for this…

Eddie originated from sports, and usually sports proned into emotional, especially commentary. Some sports commentators, i.e. Phan Dang in Vietnam, usually lapsed himself into the expertise too much. He would, too, have an evangelistic-style when appearing on TV. That is why his tenure on Millionaire Vietnam did not last long, and the production crew there would looking to a half-half comedic and straight man to make Millionaire watchable again

Seven to screen Who Wants to be a Millionaire? UK | TV Tonight

You have the wrong information. That’s the UK version going to 7.

Definitely some good names being thrown about for hosting but also many that I would instantly turn off from.

I actually like the idea of Kochie which I’m surprised at but it depends how he’d end up taking it in terms of direction.

Quarters I like also but as a couple have mentioned I think Amanda Keller could be really good with it too - she can be serious and authoritive but can also have the comedy and has been around TV and radio for a very long time and is quite likeable from the people it seems - hardly in a controversy (except for when it comes to gold logies but she definitely had a lot of support for her stance there) and seems like a genuinely nice person on and off screen.

Eddie McGuire backs return of Who Wants to be a Millionaire but wants left field host

Eddie McGuire has given his blessing to a revival of popular TV format Who Wants to be a Millionaire? — with one catch.

He said he’d like to see a left field person chosen for the hosting hot seat.

ā€œI always said it was a hiatus, not the end,’’ McGuire told the Herald Sun.

ā€œIt’s one of the most successful television shows around the world and spawned an Academy Award winning movie. It’s such a joyous show and to me it was only a matter of time.

ā€œI just hope if it comes back it’s done well. It might be Sam Pang hosting, who knows.

ā€œThere’s been a whole lot of different people in these roles. Traditionally it has not been a game show host and I was a surprise choice when I did it. It’s not a quiz show and the host gets to play around so I hope whoever gets it will have great fun.ā€

Confirmation on what? Is this about you being confused about which network has the show?

Who Wants to be a Millionaire Australia is going to 10.
Who Wants to be a Millionaire UK is going to 7.

Australia = Channel Ten
UK = Channel Seven

Again, Channel Seven has the UK version, Channel 10 will produce a local version.

Big difference.

How can one network show an international version and Channel Seven show the Australian one?

Similar to how Ten airs the local Amazing Race and Seven airs the American version of it.

Channel 7 IS NOT showing the Australian one Timothy.

It does happen. See below:

Survivor Australia is on Ten
Survivor US is on Nine/9Go

The Amazing Race Aus is on 10.
The Amazing Race US is on 7.

If the Australian version of Millionaire on 10, It better not be at six o’clock. Game shows do not rate at six o’clock!

I doubt it’ll be at 6:00pm. From what I think, it’ll air at 7:30pm on a night when none of their reality tentpole shows (eg MasterChef) is on.
