Wednesday night ratings saw almost every show in the top 20 lose ground from last week. Nine was still ahead with a nine-point winning margin but with its lowest Wednesday share of the survey as Seven got a one-point boost to its best Wednesday share for six weeks. ABC was also up one while 10 lost share to its lowest Wednesday result of the year while SBS got a small boost.

Married At First Sight was the number one show for the fifth consecutive Wednesday though down 40k week-on-week. Under Investigation that followed was down slightly but on par with this season’s result where it loses 500k from the lead-in. Nine News was 100k behind Seven but A Current Affair then was number one at 7pm again.

Seven’s The Front Bar was one of the few show to improve its audience rating close to the 300k mark including 163k in Melbourne for the first AFL dedicated episode of the year. That was up almost 70k on the all Sports edition and the best result since the opening episode of the year. Earlier the second of the Russell Gilbert specials was down from the first by 40k to below 200k.

ABC did well with Hard Quiz over 500k again while The Weekly that followed slipped +30k to be under 400k for the first time this year. QI that did better than usual. Over on 10, The Dog House slipped 20k from the previous week to be just over 300k, slightly better than Tuesday’s result. The Swap continued to disappoint on SBS though Wildlife ER did better than the previous week.

At breakfast Today was ahead of Sunrise for the third time this year winning by 7k.

Gogglebox was down this week to just over 100k on Foxtel.

The Front Bar even beat Under Investigation in Melbourne.

The NBL championship decider did very well on pay TV, coming second behind Gogglebox.

If there was ever a reason to fire the Ch 7 programmers, commissioning 2 x 1 hr Russell Gilbert (long lost memory of a comedian) specials in primetime is it. Flabbergasted is the only word to use.

7mate’s new line-up (even though all repeats) doing well, including all key demos, those factual traffic shows still popular over a decade on… I notice HP back on main channel next week too (a new season that was delayed due to COVID or repeats I wondeer?)

In fairness Seven wanted us to laugh at 7:30 - which is precisely what I’m doing now over coffee LOL

Is that their lowest ever during ratings season?

I’m suppressed Seven are continuing The Front Bar live into Sydney and Brisbane with the AFL edition.

That’s hardly surprising given it was the eve of a new AFL season. It would have rated higher had the lead-in been stronger than Russell Gilbert.

I suspect it may be moved to 10.30 in the coming weeks for those markets but it doesn’t hurt to have as a primetime promotion for their AFL coverage on main channel in those areas on Saturday night.

Re The Front Bar: 35th in Sydney and 46th in Brisbane? Ouch. I’m one of the few from Sydney who enjoys the show, even the AFL version (despite not the biggest fan of the sport itself). But i can see the show being bumped by Easter time. Hoping its around the 10.30pm mark and not at midnight where it has happened before.

And thanks for posting the breakky/morning shows rankings - even the 5.30am versions of Sunrise and Today. We dont see those rankings often.

10’s news rating must be a worry. Last year was barely a night when not in top 20. Now there’s barely a night when news is a top 20 program for 10. No one is turning to 10 anymore for news unfortunately.

Tipping Point less than 100k from Hot Seat. When will Nine realise that Hot Seat is dead?
