Nine recorded its highest Wednesday share since the third State of Origin game of last year with over one third of the audience watching the network. Nine’s main channel outrated all its competitors’ network shares. Second-placed Seven dropped to its lowest Wednesday share since July 2022 while ABC and 10 shares were steady and SBS down 0.5

Nine’s success featured the second dinner party of Married At First Sight that was the number one show of the night with its best Wednesday result of this season and up 10k on last week. Under Investigation that followed managed 382,000 on par with last week. Earlier Nine News was a bit more competitive and A Current Affair was a 100k winner at 7pm.

Seven’s only prime time entries in the top 20 were Seven News that dropped below 800k for the first time this year on a Wednesday and Home and Away. Code One at 7.30 was down 30k from last week and Front Bar edged down to just miss the top 20 for the first time this year.

Not a lot of change for ABC and 10 with both line-ups on par with recent results. Hard Quiz’s new season seems to be underperforming up against MAFS which is bringing down The Weekly. The Dog House was equal with the previous week’s season premiere.

The Sky News Special Are We REady for War managed 40k.

MAFS bounced back after two nights in the 770k range.

The ratings for the Weekly with Charlie Pickering are way down.

There has also been a massive drop for Q and A on Mondays.

Of course we all know the numbers for The Project are down and it was another shocker last night.

The audience is definitely turning away from these woke type of programs.

Lets see if any of them can pick up over the next few weeks.

Mate, seriously, you don’t even know the true meaning of woke, but use it like you’re throwing it around being smart!

Compared to Sky after dark, these shows are smashing it! Even sky after dark has dropped by miles!

It might be, people are actually outside enjoying the summer weather and not watching TV?

Your argument is not logical because they seem to be watching MAFS in big numbers?

Nine won every market last night Sydney by 14, Melbourne by 10 and Brisbane by 19, Adelaide 9 and Perth by just 1.

First week of ratings and Seven’s post 7.30 schedule is outside the top 20 - but only just - those missing the top 20 included.

Yes it seems they like to use it as a pejorative rather than the actual meaning of the word.

Agreed that numbers for Sky News are way this year and I have been saying it all year

It would appear that politcially charged programs to either the right or extreme left are way down this year

However it is hard to compare pay TV with free to air

Mate, do yourself a favour and take your own advice on that one.

1; there is no growth on viewer numbers watching FTA MAFS, it has been stable for the last few years, so therefore, those that aren’t interested in the show are either watching something else, or have turned off the TV all together.

If they were watching something else it would show scattered numbers across the rest of the shows, but instead people have turned off FTA.

None of this means it has gone “woke”, cause if that was the case even Paul Murray:Chris Kenny on Sky wouldn’t have had a fall from grace like they have this year, unless they are too Woke for you too!!

Nothing from Seven in the Top 20 (ie. above 223k) from 7:30pm onwards on the first week of ratings is very concerning

So you are saying that the huge audience for MAFS is unchanged but the reason the audience for Charlie Pickering’s show and Q & A have dropped this year is due to the fact thier audience is out enjoying the summer weather and not watching TV.

So once it starts to get cold, Charlie’s audience and the Q&A audience will come back inside and the numbers will go up again.

Got it.

Well to understand the question, one must look back at last years ratings; Q&A on 3 random Thursday’s in 2022, (range September - November), didn’t make the top 20.

With the lowest rating show average on that day 244k

On Monday night, Q&A didn’t make the top 20, with the lowest top 20 show having an audience of 297k.

So for you to say, that it has dropped off, people arent watching it, how do you know this, cause that data of the show is outside the top 20!

Provide the facts on Q&A audience dropping this year?

Q and A came in at number 30 on Monday night.

I guess their audience was out enjoying the heat at 9.30pm.

Do you need evidence to see how much Charlie’s audience has dropped from last year?

The show screened in the middle of winter last year and the time of year it screens does have an effect on ratings. For example, Shaun Micaleff’s Mad As Hell in February rated a lot lower than The Weekly in June last year.

How is the show more “woke” than last year? He takes the piss out of pollies every year.

It depends exactly what you want to compare but Q +A isn’t rating lower than last year. when it dropped below 170,000. This week’s episode on Monday rated the same as the one that was shown this week on a Thursday in 2022.
Almost the entire schedule for yesterday was down on the equivalent day of last year including the top rated MAFS by 70k and Seven News by 170k and Nine News by 80k. While The Weekly is down, so is its lead in Hard Quiz - by 70k as well. It is harder to compare with last year however because it aired at a different time of the year (late April) when audience numbers are higher.

Nicely explained TV.Cynic.

Its fair to say it is a disappointing result for the ABC when Q&A is rating the same numbers on a Monday that it used to rate on a Thursday. Its numbers have been in decline for a couple of years - certainly not the powerhouse it used to be

Charlie might recover but not until MAFS is over.

What happened with Highway Patrol on 7mate last night? One of the most consistent m/c high raters for years, looks like it totally bombed out. I will note though both were episodes heavily repeated, even I’ve seen both at least 2-3 times previously and seems to occur regularly, perhaps a reason why, need better rotation or sort out their rights to air some other seasons not shown for a while.

There could be a couple of factors in that, but one would be the host.

Maybe opinions on the host might truly be bi-partisan, and isn’t that great to see people coming together
